Kairi felt frustrated as she sat down after she drank some water, her keyblade in hand and the targets she was attacking all but demolished. She looked up in the sky as she thought of Sora once more, the man she loves once more selflessly sacrificed himself to save her only to disappear himself again. Kairi growled to herself that once again her ineptitude caused Sora to step in and help her, she trained with Lea to prevent that from happening, and it was all for nothing.
"Sora." Kairi muttered, she is also somewhat angry at Riku, even though she understood his reasoning.
Flashback
"You're going to save him aren't you?" Kairi asked as Riku got ready, he didn't respond, he didn't need to, he knew she knew what he was thinking, "take me with you."
"Not happening." Riku shook his head.
"I don't want to be some helpless bystander, not this time!" Kairi protested.
"Have you completed your training?" Riku simply asked, Kairi tried to utter a protest but no words came out, "that's what I thought."
"Sora is missing because of me, I need to." Kairi began but Riku stopped her.
"You need to stop blaming yourself Kairi." Riku said, "things just happen."
"Getting my heart engulfed by Xehanort and causing Sora to vanish for me isn't what I'd call things." Kairi's eyes narrowed, Riku sighed.
"Sora would kill me if anything happened to you." Riku told her, "don't let that sacrifice be for nothing." Kairi growled.
"I trained to wield a keyblade for this very reason!" Kairi bellowed.
"And once again your training is incomplete, what happens if you face something your not ready for?" Riku asked.
"And it's okay for you to make that risk?" Kairi asked.
"I'm a Keyblade Master for a reason." Riku responded, Kairi growled, "look don't worry, I'll find him and bring him back, that's a promise."
End flashback
Kairi knew Riku was only doing what he thought was best, but the thought of being treated like a child, like something that needed to be protected lingered in her mind.
"I just want to stop being so helpless." Kairi muttered, time and time again Sora risked his neck to save her, and all she could do was let it happen, that's why she dedicated herself to training with a keyblade, no longer would she stand idlily by but be Sora's equal, to save him just as he saved her, and for a while she did just that, then it went to hell as Sora risked everything once more to bring her back once more. She took a look at her keyblade.
"I'm strong enough to find him." Kairi muttered, "Sora, tell me where you are." Kairi focused as she felt her heart shine bright and shot a light in the sky, separating into many parts, she gasped upon seeing it.
"Sora?" Kairi asked, her heart was guiding her, this is a sign, nodding to herself she made a decision, using her keyblade she summoned a gummy ship, inside was a female mouse with blonde hair, googles on her head and a blue suit, her blue eyes showed confusion.
"Golly how on earth did I get here?" The mouse asked, as she looked at Kairi, "wait, I know you, you're Chip and Dale's friend."
"Yeah that's right, miss?" Kairi asked.
"Gadget Hackwrench!" Gadget introduced, "I help with the ship's repairs."
"I'm sorry I disturbed you but I need to fly to the different worlds, I'm looking for someone." Kairi said.
"Well, who am I to turn down someone in need." Gadget smiled, "this reminds me of the good old days where I was apart of the Rescue Rangers!" Kairi smiled back as she got on the ship, as Gadget finished fixing it.
"So you know how to fly?" Kairi asked.
"Do I, I always flew the ship." Gadget proudly said, as she put the finishing touches on it, "who do you think taught Chip and Dale?"
"You?" Kairi giggled, as Gadget nodded, she began powering up the Gummy Ship as she wiped her forehead.
"Phew, that should do it." Gadget sighed as she turned to Kairi, "so where to first?" Kairi saw where her heart was guiding her, Sora told her about all the worlds and the dangers they posed, but she knew her heart was guiding her to those places for a reason, she just has to believe in herself.
I'll show you Riku, I'll find Sora before you and prove that I can take care of myself! Kairi swore, if only she knew what awaited her.
