A RUDE AWAKENING...AND A "LITTLE" SHOCK.

When Tom awoke, he was naturally disoriented for the first few seconds. But, the mental fog cleared when he instinctively tried to stand up and merely bumped his head. That was when he realized he was not only handcuffed. But, gagged with the chloroform-soaked handkerchief that had knocked him out (anchored in place with the black blindfold), too! He must also be locked in the trunk, stuffed inside the gunnysack, to judge from the canvas-like fabric he felt against his face.and the cramped way he was seated.

He struggled as best he could. But, it was no use. He was firmly stuck. So, he waited as patiently as possible for his abductors to release and reveal their plans for him. He didn't know how long he waited! But, his patience paid off. Because he eventually heard a padlock being opened and a chain unchained (being familiar with that sound as the owner of an expensive ten-speed bike) before he felt the trunk being tipped over and the gunnysack falling on to the floor of wherever he was. Then came a briefly blinding ray of light as the sack was lifted into a sitting position and the top of it untied. He felt his head pulled upward and out before the top of the sack was partially closed back up. So that only head and neck were sticking out!
There, standing before him, were Alexandra the Great (still in her stage costume) and two girls who were obviously identical twins. Especially as they wore matching sleeveless sequined black leotards!
"Hello, Tom," said the magician nodding to the girl on her immediate right: "You remember my niece, Zelda. Well, to her left is her sister Zenobia. Usually, they're the ones who perform Metamorphosis! But, every once in a while, we have someone from the audience substitute for one of them. While the other one helps with our abduction of that 'volunteer!' And, this week, that's you. You see. Tom, your father's been a very bad boy. He helped my ex-brother-in-law hide half of the money my sister is supposed to get in back alimony in some offshore account! So, we're going to hold you for ransom for that exact amount. And just to make sure you can't escape beforehand...girls?"
Whereupon, Zelda and Zenobia joined their left and right hands, respectively, while simultaneously closing their eyes. The next thing Tom knew...he was shrinking!
