Chapter #3

The Tiny Race of 'Tweens

    by: ejones312 Author IconMail Icon
The boy is from a naturally small race of tiny humanoid boys.

According to legend, there are many races of tiny people who have hidden themselves away from the human world due to their fear of their malcontent, including fairies and borrowers.

Fairies have been often depicted as small humanoid figures with beautiful dragonfly wings. They are even-tempered, behave like normal human beings, and they dress like them too. They have a love for cheese and fruits, and they are allergic to silver. They bestow happiness, intelligence, and wealth to those they love and love them back.

Sprites, on the other hand, are smaller, more mischievous than fairies who prefer to pull pranks on their giant human hosts. They are often depicted with pointed hats, butterfly wings, and pointed ears and shoes. They have a love for nectar and pollen. Pixies are known to be ferocious fighters, often fighting for the people they love and love them back. Like their fairy counterparts, pixies are allergic to silver.

Borrowers have often been depicted as humanoid figures, and they are sometimes depicted with a rat's tail. They are as small as their fairy and pixie counterparts, often taking shelter in the walls of a human abode, whose scuttling noises make the occupants believe a mouse is crawling the walls. They often take (or "borrow") discarded objects like clothing scraps. Borrowers must remain hidden from the human eyes, and rarely do stories tell of a borrower being spotted by a human.
