This choice: Betty agrees go with Veronica to Pop's • Go Back...Chapter #6Betty agrees go with Veronica to Pop's by: NVR   Betty did her best to contain the tears and nodded at her new friend with a weak smile, feeling that there was some truth in what she was saying and also assuming that Veronica felt a bit guilty for having encouraged her to ask Archie out.
The road to Pop's was silent, with both girls' lost in their own particular thoughts. Betty dealing with the knowledge that now that she knew Archie didn't see her as a romantic interest she could move on, but also with the hurt that came from her longtime crush rejecting her and the life she had dreamed with him torn to pieces, while Veronica was more concerned with how to handle the situation to her advantage without hurting Betty even more. After all she cared for her, even if she knew deep down today she was using her new friend to indulge her feeder urges.
"Well, we're here, what do you want?" Veronica tried to encourage Betty to ask whatever she felt like
"I don't know, have you ever felt so sad you lost appetite?" Betty said softly which got her a concerned look from Veronica, this wasn't going according to plan!
"Yes, but you need to move past that hon, it's not the end of the world!"
"I guess we can get the usual burger and milkshake" Betty conceded and Veronica got right to it, hoping that with some cathartic talk and the food she would be able to make her eat more than her usual fill.
"Here, I also got a big portion of your favorite here! Don't worry, it's on me" Veronica smiled at Betty
"It's a bit too much, V" she answered looking at the food she ordered plus the extras her friend brought
"Please? I just feel bad for..you know.. pushing you into this" Veronica lied and sure enough, Betty believed her excuse and gratefully accepted the food. Just as Veronica wanted, the conversation between the new friends started to flow and soon enough Betty finished her whole meal and part of Veronica's, who excused herself saying she felt full. The food quickly turned the grief into a conversation about how even good men like Archie could fail them by not seeing their true value and understanding their feelings and indirect signs.
"Hey, could you give us another milkshake?" Veronica asked the waiter, delighted with the way Betty was overeating and wanting to keep it going
"It's too much V, I think I'm gonna explode now" Betty joked, gently patting her belly which just encouraged her friend to insist
"Come on, just for this special day, for the new you" Veronica insisted and Betty actually thought about it. It was way too much, but after what happened and the talk with Veronica, it did feel like a special night for her, in a way
