It took a while, but you fell for his suggestion.

"It's a rather tempting offer," you said.

"You win either way," said Zilis, staring into your eyes. "Resist, and you get the money. Kiss me, and you get the money."

"I would," you said. "Money's always a good incentive."

"It always is," said Zilis. "It mustn't be easy for you. Always having to put on a cold exterior, ignoring the emotional needs of others. Don't you want to be free of having to put on an act, and be true to yourself?"

"Be true to myself?" you asked.

"There's that part of you, who wants to be loved," said Zilis. "A part of you who wants to be held by someone, who will hold you tight, and show you the love you want."

"And what makes you say that?" you asked.

"Because I know."

You looked down, and saw that the snakeman had wrapped his tail around you. You looked up, to see his eyes staring into yours.

"One little kiss?"

"One kiss." You leaned forward, and kissed him.

You blinked, and found yourself looking right at Zilis. "Um, what just happened?"

Zilis chuckled. "You kissed me."

You looked down, and saw Zilis's tail wrapped around you. "What did you do?"

"I simply enhanced the suggestion," said Zilis, as they let go of you. "A tender embrace is very good at getting one willing to accept a kiss."

"You manipulated me," you said. "You did something to make me want to kiss you."

"Yes," said Zilis. "I offered you the money in order for you to kiss me. A win-win either way. After that, a little bit of charm and charisma, and persuasion. Honey is better at attracting flies than vinegar, as the saying goes."

"Why don't I remember what happened?" you asked.

"Because you weren't making those thoughts of your own free will," Zilis said. "Unless a memory recovery spell is used, you won't remember kissing me."

You looked at the coins, and shoved them back to Zilis. "Then keep your money."

Zilis chuckled, and shoved them back to you. "I keep my bargains, even if you don't remember it."

Reluctantly, you picked up the money, and put it into your pouch. "Why did you do that?"

"We're going up against a foe who does play mind games," said Owag. "We're not the only ones after this treasure."

"So, just what is this treasure we're going after?" you asked.
