Almost from the day you arrived at the Heroes' Academy, your body began physically maturing. As soon as it did, boys at the Academy (and some girls) wanted to get to "know" you better. Even though it was strictly forbidden for students to try out spells on other students outside the classroom, more than one aspiring hero unsuccessfully tried out a suggestion spell on you, By the time you graduated, you had developed an immunity of sorts to any type of suggestion.
The suggestion Zilis was attempting to use on you was different. Maybe it had to do with the fact that Zilis was a Yuan-Ti. Maybe it was because Zilis was "channeling" his ancestors. It might have even been the fact that Zilis really doesn't want to kiss you. He just wants to prove he can force you to kiss him.
Whatever the reason, it's hard to get a grip on the suggestion Zilis is using on you. It's like water seeping into your brain from a dozen different points, rather than one big breach. As soon as you plug one leak, two more pop up. And all the while, Zilis keeps on whispering insidiously.
Then Zilis said something out of pattern. The break was all you needed. You push his suggestion out of your mind so hard that Zilis stumbles backwards.
Zilis immediately begins making his suggestion again, but now you have his number. You resist his suggestion with no effort whatsoever.
"Thank you," you tell Zilis sincerely. "You definitely helped me strengthen my mental defenses."
All your gratitude does is make Zilis even more miffed about his failure. He and Bozzori find a table to share a drink and grumble while the rest of the adventuring party has a chuckle at their expense.
With a shrug, you take the gold Zilis leaves behind and go have a talk with one of your new companions.
