Ignatius first gave your new team its briefing, then gave the other team a separate briefing (presumably to a different destination other, though you're not sure on that fact). Both teams are then taken to separate rooms, where the palace will provide supper, sleeping arrangements, then breakfast, before the teams begin their quests.
Over dinner, you began learning more about your new teammates.
Kobi-Maan was the first tortle you had ever actually met. Until now, the only thing you knew about tortles were from all the comical songs and stories about them, such as the one about the tortle and the harengon.
There was nothing comical about the older (though definitely not elderly) tortle shaman, Kobi-mann was born and had lived in a large tortle community located in the estuary of the Thebian riiver, to the southeast of the Kingdom's capital. Kobi-Mann was dedicated to the worship of Tykfos, the tortle deity of tides and twilights. Kobi-Mann was powerful enough that he could, from time to time, communicate directly with Tykfos' chief angelic minister KaipalĂrroies. The latter being would also grant Kobi-mann power to supplement that which the tortle shaman drew from his faith and worship.
This was the first time that Kobi-Mann had been more than thirty miles from the community he had served all his life.
Rogthrak may have been born and raised in the Gean islands (a cluster of small to large islands along the Kingdom's southeastern coast), home of several barbaric minotaur tribes. But Rogthrak was a barbarian in name only. Granted, Rogthrak was the biggest minotaur you had ever met. And, as was the custom of his people, he had taken a wild animal (in Rogthrak's case, the auroch) as his totem. But Rogthrak was also one of the most cultured individuals you had ever met. His diction and vocabulary would put even the most well bred nobleman to shame. Rogthrak also had etensive knowledge of the histories, music and literature of several cultures.
Finally, there were the dark elf twins, Jia and Mia (short for Jianvayas and Mianice), You had never met dark elves before, but you had studied them at the Heroes' Academy. Jia and Mia were nothing like dark elves were supposed to be. Their skin wasn't black, but a very dark brown. There eyes weren't blood red, but icy blue. Their long hair was a very pale blonde, not white. And the twins didn't have an aversion to sunlight. They didn't even seem to be bothered by it.
The last trait was partially due to a sigil both sisters had tattooed on their left shoulder. But that trait, along with their other non-drowish features, was also due to the fact that only one of Jia's and Mia's parents was a dark elf. The other parent was
