It took about half an hour for Ken to return downstairs where his grandmother was waiting. Right away Kamui could see his body language had yet to change and the look of annoyance on his face lingered. Clearly, he wasn't looking forward to whatever she had in store for him.
"I'm here." He grumbled.
"I can see that." Kamui acknowledged.
The first order of business was to break him down and teach him a lesson. A little manual labor should do the trick and she had plenty of lumber outside that needed to be chopped. After that he could rest before she came up with something else for him to do.
Ken rolled his eyes. He was really trying her patients. "First order of business, there's wood outside that needs to be chopped for the fireplace. It'll be long and arduous, but I'm confident you can get the job done with your young pair of arms and strong back."
She could've done the work herself with just the snap of her fingers, but she purposefully didn't after getting a call from her son. This was about teaching Ken a lesson and getting him back on track before it was too late. A little hard work wouldn't kill him.
"Whatever." He muttered under his breath. That was strike three in Kamui's book.
"I gave you a pass the first time and I won't do so again." She began. "You're here because your attitude stinks and my son doesn't know how to properly discipline you. I'm not my son or your mother and will tolerate no more disrespect from you."
Ken looked slightly nervous now as he knew what was coming next but held his ground all the same. He was tired of adults and other authority figures trying to tell him what to do. He just wanted to do his own thing without everyone yapping in his ear.
Kamui didn't know this of course and pointed her finger at him. It glowed slightly before she noticed her grandson's height starting to diminish. Earlier he stood head and shoulders above her but now, not so much. The 5'10" teen was now just a humble three feet tall.
Ken had to look up to meet his grandmother's blank stare and disappointed eyes. He hated that look. It made him feel like the bad guy and in his mind he wasn't. She placed her hands on her hips, and he tried his best to remain somewhat unaffected by losing the height he had over her.
"Is there anything else you'd like to say to me, young man?" She asked him. If he apologized, then maybe she'd show some mercy and restore some of the height he lost. If not, then he could stay three feet tall for a while. It would only make his punishment more grueling, so he'd better choose his words wisely.
Ken looked at his grandmother and internally scoffed. If he apologized now, then maybe he could convince her to give him some of his height back. It worked in the past to it might work again. Was it worth a shot?
