You squinted a little as your eyes struggled to focus on the brightly backlit Neferu against the noon Vita. The jackal’s already muscular silhouette accentuated by the light seemed even more imposing than before. But you quickly dismissed it as a trick of the light.
“Fancy seeing you here Neferu! Nice day for a stroll amongst the shrubbery ain’t it?” You called out to him from over the hedge.
“Ah, if it isn’t my favourite simian consort, out for a jaunt with his significant other I see.” Neferu chirped in his usual confident tone as he sashayed over.
“Don’t you have somewhere else to be?” Amicus said cutting in while rolling his eyes.
“Well now, someone’s clearly woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.” Neferu retorted while grandiosely gesturing to Amicus.
“At least I get to wake up next to Marco’s side of the –“ Amicus was cut off by you.
“Oof! What’s up with this awesome climate, on a moon no less! The weather is great wouldn’t you agree?” You interjected with an awkward laugh, as soon as the conversation was about to get tenser.
