Zach flipped open one of the boxes and grabbed a slice. Just as he was about to take a bite, his phone rang. Groaning, he threw it back into the box. Wiping his hand on the couch, he answered.
"Hey Zach!" Liam, one of his teammates voice rumbled through the line. Even over the phone, his voice is still ridiculously deep, Zach thought. "You want to hang out tonight? I figured we could grab a bite at a buffet or steakhouse or something. My parents got me a gift card for winning the last competition and I hate to eat alone."
"Ummm... Are you asking me on a date?" Zach asked, his mouth hanging open.
Liam stuttered something before clearing his throat. "Ummm... Well... I guess I am. It's on me. Anything you choose since it's a Visa gift card."
Zach grinned. He'd never thought of any of his teammates like that, or anyone like that before really. "Well, Liam, you see, I just ordered a couple of pizzas." He told Liam, trying to play this up.
"Oh. Okay. Well I guess I'll let you..." Liam started to say, his voice barely audible.
"I'm joking Liam!" He quickly interrupted before Liam could hang up. "I'm up for giving this a try. The pizzas can wait. What time were you thinking?"
"Like 6? 7? Either of those times work?"
"7 works. What place would you prefer? I don't mind myself as long as there's lots of food."
"Okay. How about..."
