How about this? Ok, a mysterious artifact is discovered by one of the hotel patrons that they use to spread confusion, discombobulation & total and utter chaos. The swaps, morphs and/or other changes can be used specifically or act completely uncontrollably. Again, it’s completely up to you.

Ok, ok, let me think for a second... Erm, ok, this one may seem insensitive considering the situation we’re currently facing so I apologise in advance, this is an idea I’ve had for a while and it’s unfortunate that it’s coming at this time. But what if there’s some kind of contagion that spreads through the hotel that causes either random changes to guests or even a single uniform change that mutates them all into genetic clones?
Not into that? Fair, I’m just throwing up ideas.
What else? Maybe an extraterrestrial visitor comes to hide in the hotel and maybe assimilate a few more followers into their horde. Along with the basic trait theft powers, one could include tales of possession, body hopping or possibly showcase any other abilities that an alien visitor might possess.
