You decided it would be a good idea to chat with Teddiursa and explain about yourself and the current competition.
“Let’s just talk for a bit,” you said. “We can train when we’re done, but first we should get to know each other. And I have to tell you about this contest I’m doing.”
Teddiursa nodded. She was just happy to be spending time with you.
“Alright, well... I’m a teenager, a little older than most new Pokemon Trainers. I’ve been working at my family’s store in Viridian City, but then I heard about this ‘Pokemon Extravaganza’ and I decided to enter it. That’s why I’m your trainer—everyone who enters the contest gets a Pokemon partner, and I chose your ball. So, you’re my first Pokemon.”
Teddiursa giggled and hugged you even tighter. She seemed to be pretty excited that she was your very first Pokemon, and you couldn’t blame her. She was your starter Pokemon, and that made her special. You smiled and kept talking.
“This is a worldwide competition. Each region has gyms where you can battle Pokemon of different types. We have to collect a ribbon from one gym of each type, and then we can pick any champion to challenge. That’ll be hard, though. We have to train, and catch more Pokemon too. And at my size, it’ll be dangerous. You’ll have to work hard to get stronger and also keep me safe.”
Your starter lifted you up and turned you around, holding you between her big strong paws in front of her adorable face. She looked surprisingly serious, and she nodded.
“Teddiursa,” she said. “Ursa!”
“I can tell you’re ready,” you said. “That’s great! We’re gonna make a great team, Teddiursa. Let’s head out and look for some Pokemon so we can practice fighting.”
The bear cub cheered and rubbed you against her fluffy cheek, nuzzling you. You moved an arm and rubbed her cheek in return, and then she stood up and hugged you tight against her chest again. She began to walk around, and you both kept an eye out for wild Pokemon.
