After being carried by the running Shinx for a while, your legs dangling out of its mouth, everything suddenly lurches around. The pressure around your lower half disappears as Shinx opens its mouth and yelps loudly. Freed from its grip, you fly forward and land on the ground. You see Shinx rolling on the ground close by, with Chimchar wrestling it. Your starter must have caught up and tackled the wild Pokemon in an attempt to save you.
You’re close to the fight, so you get up and run away. You watch from a distance as Chimchar keeps wrestling with the Shinx. She punches it and bites it, and the wild Pokemon scratches and bites her back. But eventually, Chimchar punches Shinx hard enough to knock it out. The cat faints, and Chimchar gets up. She’s shaky and bleeding from various injuries, but nothing looks too serious, and you’re glad she was able to defeat the Shinx and save you.
You run over to her, and she smiles and starts cheering. She reaches out and snatches you up in her hands, then hugs you tight against her furry chest. She doesn’t care that your upper half is covered in dirt and Shinx’s saliva. It feels nice to be hugged by her. Eventually, Chimchar wraps her fingers around you and holds you in front of her face, smiling at you.
“Thanks, girl,” you say. “That was close. I thought it was going to eat me! Glad you saved the day. But it looks like you got beat up. Are you okay?”
Chimchar winces, but nods. As you thought, her injuries aren’t too serious, but she is still cut and bleeding, so it would be good to get some healing. First, you ask Chimchar to retrace her steps and get back to her Poke Ball, and she does so, carrying you along. You get back to the spot where Shinx attacked, and Chimchar grabs her ball in one hand while holding you in the other. Then you suggest finding the closest town, Sandgem, and visiting the Pokemon Center, but you aren’t quite sure how to get out of this forest and reach Sandgem. You think it’s located to the south, so you tell Chimchar to start walking that way.
