Chapter #6

Helping a Helpful Hedgehog

    by: Unknown
You watched in silence, unmoving, as Mew flew away, slowly becoming a small pink dot in the sky and ultimately disappearing from sight.

Now, it was official: you were alone.

Shocked by this turn of events, you looked around, staring at the flowers you towered over mere minutes ago, and that now towered over you instead.

This was... crazy! You were just robbed of your size by a mischievous legendary! And- and you had really no idea what to do about it, you thought while gritting your teeth, frustrated.

What could you do to fix this? Actually, it was more of a matter of what you HAD to do to fix this. After all, it was the same pink legendary that gave you the solution before taking off, right? What you had to do was clear: you had to find Mew, who would supposedly give you back your size.

The only question now was, how could you accomplish that? You were stranded in the middle of Seabreak Path in a remote area of Sinnoh. You doubted many people knew about this place, decreasing your chances of getting any help and, as if that wasn't enough, the sunlight wasn't going to last forever.

Great, you sarcastically thought, what now?

In order to calm down, you had to take several deep breaths while trying to collect your thoughts: just standing here was going to get you nowhere.

You at least had to get out of here... somehow...

So, hesitantly, you started running in the same direction Mew took. You didn't even know where you were going, but it didn't matter as long as you were able to at least get out of this flower field. You wondered what you were gonna do after that, but decided not to worry... for now; you kept going, dodging the stems of the hundreds of flowers that surrounded you, covering in shade with their massive tops; just as you were beginning the end of the field, you suddenly bumped into something that halted your run.

The force of the impact, along with your speed, was enough to cause you to bounce off the soft wall and land on your behind on the hard ground; a moment before you fell, you felt shocked: that thing you had bumped into, whatever it was, wasn't there before, you were certain of it.

"Huh?"

Ignoring the soreness of your behind, you looked up and noticed a massive green eye staring down at you; apparently, it belonged to a massive white creature with green fur on its back that looked like grass. Also, it carried a cautious look on its face as it stared at you. However, the thing that surprised you most was that you could actually recognize this Pokemon thanks to its status: it was a legendary.

Shaymin!

"H-Huh!?"

"Ahh!" the grass-type legendary screamed as it jumped back, alarmed; its voice sounded vaguely feminine.

The two of you just spent the next moments staring at each other, both of you afraid of each other. However, seeing as you were doing nothing, the Shaymin timidly approached again, the look on its face becoming less of a fearful one and more of a curious one; it contemplated you for a few minutes, before...

"... You're a human?" the legendary spoke and, this time, there was no denying it was a girl, which was odd considering that legendaries were supposedly genderless. But then again, Mew turned out to be a girl as well, right? Also, having heard Mew talk, albeit only to challenge you, you weren't that surprised to hear this one legendary do so, too.

"Y-Yes," you replied, trying to regain your composure, reminding yourself that Shaymin was supposed to be one of the friendliest legendaries,
"I am a human."

Shaymin seemed surprised.

"But... you're tiny." she needlessly stated.

You closed your eyes and sighed.

"I noticed." you replied, trying not to sound excessively sarcastic.

"Why?" Shaymin insisted, gaining a little bit of confidence. You opened your eyes.

"Well, uh... that's kind of an odd story," you explained, rubbing the back of your neck,
"Basically, Mew appeared and she did... this."

The green and white giantess perked up at the mention and took a step back, surprised.

"... Mew?" she timidly parroted back, her face drawing a little closer to you,
"That Mew?" she asked, her tone lowering to a whisper.

"Do you know any other Mews?"

Shaymin blushed, embarrassed by her own silly question.

"A-Anyway, I need help!" you said, jumping to your feet, causing the large legendary to take a step back,
"Mew told me to find her! I have no choice, I need my size back! I can't survive like this!"

Shaymin contemplated you silently again, letting you calm down a little after your outburst. What Mew apparently did to you seemed terrible, but maybe she would be able to do something for you.

If only...

"I-I'll..." she eventually spoke,
"... I'll help you find Mew."

Huh?

"Wh- really?"

Shaymin offered a shy smile.

"Sure," she said, but her smile quickly fell,
"However, I-I need you to help me first."

You stared at the legendary questioningly.

"You see, I was searching for a particular flower earlier. It's called the Gracidea," Shaymin mercifully explained,
"I-It's supposed to be around here, o-or at least I think. I could help you find Mew if I find it, but without it I'm afraid t-there isn't much I can do." she said, blushing a little again,
"S-So..."

"It's a deal. I'll help you out, and then you'll help me, right?" you interrupted.

Shaymin nodded, visibly relieved.

"That's right," she agreed, before shooting the sky a glance,
"But we'll have to find it before sunset, or I won't be able to help. That'd really suck."

You registered the information, then nodded.

"Understood. What does this flower look like?" you asked.

Shaymin motioned for the flowers on her head.

"I-It looks kinda like these," she explained, pointing her green eyes back to you; that said, she took a few steps and got past you,
"Just call me if you find it... although, don't get wander off too far, or I w-won't be able to hear you."

"Alright." you distractedly replied, already looking for the flower, the Gracidea.

Shaymin shot you one last glance, before she started her own research.
