"It wasn't an easy decision to make, your honor. Since my mom tragically died in a traffic accident last year, it's been just me and my step-father. When my mom got remarried to him five years ago, he immediately took me in and treated me like he would his own daughter. When mom died in a car he was really supportive of me through the whole thing. For the past five years he's been with me through thick and thin. To be honest, your honor he's the best step father I could've asked for." says Abigail, sounding sad.
The judge was a bit surprised to hear this.
"Yet you want to shrink and eat him?" asks the judge, puzzled.
"Not exactly your honor. Allow me to explain. I had my 16th birthday recently and it got me thinking about my future. I've decided I want to go to college and someday get my doctorate in biology. As I'm sure you know, your honor, college is not cheap and sadly, since my mom died we have been struggling financially. So much so that going to college seems like a distant dream. The other day I was talking with my friend Libby and her mom about all this. Libby's mom said to me that she thought my step-dad was particularly delicious and told me she would give me more than enough money to live on and pay my way through college if I sold him to her so she could sell him at her restaurant. I know that if my mom was alive today, she'd want me to do what was best for my future. Even if it meant giving my step father up to be eaten."
You stand in total shock listening to all this. After all you've done for your step daughter, you can't believe she's willing to sell you for her own selfish reasons.
"I see" says the judge, carefully listening. "And how much money are we talking about?"
"Half a million dollars, your honor" says Abigail.
"That's quite a generous offer. You have a really good friend" says the judge. "Is your friend Libby's mom in the court with you today?"
"Yes, your honor and she's prepared to testify if needed" says, Abigail confidently.
