After what was a pretty chilled day, all things considered, Allyson said her goodbyes and headed home. She was definitely getting used to her new workplace and the rapid pace; though the influx of customers hadn't really slowed yet, she, Carla and Tara were definitely getting used to the system and their stress levels seemed to be dropping after the chaos of Monday.
As she opened the door to her apartment, she spotted the sack of candy she had been given on her first day, still propped up next to the door. Her mind immediately thinking back to the chocolates she had sampled at work today, she was overcome with a craving and decided it was finally time to open up the bag. Unfastening the string that tied it together, Allyson dumped her stuff by the door and leaned in for a closer look; to her surprise, the heavy sack was filled to the brim with what looked like thousands of candies. This is way too much, maybe they expected us to give out free samples or something?
Allyson pulled out a handful of chocolates in purple wrappers with the EC logo on them. They looked a little different to the ones she had eaten earlier, but she wasn't about to go rifling through the entire bag. She'd be there all night! Unwrapping one of the chocolates, she popped it into her mouth and bit down, revealing it to be a caramel. "Mmmmm..." A soft moan escaped her lips as the rich, velvety chocolate melted in her mouth. She looked around for Sandy, but her roommate was obviously not home yet.
Crossing to the couch, she unbuttoned her blazer and tossed it over the arm, before taking a seat and switching on the TV. As she sat down, she was greeted by the sight of a female news reporter standing outside the gates to the Expansive Candy factory.
"Oh, hey, it's us!" She said aloud, unwrapping a second chocolate.
"...and the candy is now sweeping through our town like wildfire, Bill!" The reporter was saying. "To the surprise of local investors, the new Expansive Candy enterprise has brought jobs, interest and tourism to our small town, and it looks like their profits are only going up. Latest estimates show that the five stores across town will soon be restocking completely."
"Huh...I wonder how the others are doing," Allyson said to herself, popping her third chocolate into her mouth and chomping down.
The report cut back to the studio, just as the reporter produced a bag of sour candy from her pocket. "Thanks Sally," the bearded presenter said cheerily. "Well, it looks like all of Spring Falls loves our colourful new business partners. Join us tomorrow when we will have an exclusive interview with the owner of the factory, Miss Elena Exco."
As the TV cut to commercial, Allyson realised she had already finished off her chocolates. "Huh, they didn't last long," she said, looking down with mild surprise at her empty hand. Drawing herself back to her feet, she immediately returned to the sack and grabbed a second, much larger, handful, before returning to the couch and popping one after another into her mouth...
