A portal opens and spits your screaming, flailing body out of it and you impact the ground hard, bounce once, twice then roll on the ground until you come to a complete stop. Your eyes roll in your skull, and a bevy of stars and black spots dance in your vision. An immense pain flares in your chest as you try to move, so you settle back down and take a few deep, heaving breaths. You honestly can't tell what's worse, the agony of your possibly broken ribs or the disorientation from spinning in the air and coming to a sudden stop. You should thank your lucky stars you didn't hit your head on entry or you may well have been in a coma or dead by now. At least the pain will fade, but you feel like you're going to go through the indignity of losing your lunch next.
Blurry colors of many shapes and sizes swim in your vision. You hear voices rise over the ringing in your ears and slowly come into focus.
