As Emily rushed down the stairs to let her friends in, Emma was going up the stairs to her room. As they passed, Emma noticed that Emily was nearly as tall as she was! The small swells under her shirt were new as well. Emma was used to being five inches taller than her younger sister, so being one inch taller was quite a difference!
Emma was certain that Emily wasn’t that tall even a few days ago, when she had knocked her sister down at the dinner table. There was no way that was just a normal growth spurt! Now all of her sister’s friends were over? Something was up. And she intended to find out what is was. She walked into her room and shut the door. Placing her ear to the door, she listened for the other girls to go into her sister’s room…

Emily rushed past her sister in excitement and let her friends in. She hugged each of them then quickly ushered them up to her room, where she closed the door.
Emily showed her friends the book, showed them the 5’3” measurement on the tape measure then thrust out her new boobs. Kat, Maria, and Jessica took turns feeling them.
“Wow, Em! That’s amazing. Those feel like pretty big A’s to me. You have got to be closing in on B-cups now! You’re huge!!” Jessica said, staring up to her friend, now six inches taller than she was. “Can I read a story? I’m shorter than all of you guys, and I soooo want to get a little bit taller!”
“Show them the most amazing thing about the book, Em,” Kat suggested to Emily.
Emily brought the book over, flipped toward the end and found the title:
Emily and the Cheer Squad
Maria’s and Jessica’s mouths opened in shock. “That… that’s you!!” they both said in unison.
“Yeah, crazy, huh. The story seems to be appearing as things happen,” said Emily.
Maria and Kat chattered with Emily about how wild it was that the book appeared to be writing new stories by itself, while Jessica finished reading the story. Jessica read the last line, which said, “Jessica read the last line of Emily’s story.” That is totally trippy! Jessica thought to herself. It was beyond strange to read a story that included you reading that very story!
Later that night, Jessica would discover that by reading the story, she had added an inch to her 4’9” frame, taking her to 4’10”.
The girls giggled about how cool the book was, then decided that they would come over to Emily’s house each night and take turns reading a story and grow a little more each day. They wanted it to look like a normal, if fast growth spurt, so they didn’t dare read more than a story per day to keep up appearances.
Maria, however, was leaving on a vacation with her family the following day and wouldn’t be back until just before school started. “I’m so jealous,” she said. “I’m going to be so far behind you guys!”
“It’s okay,” Emily said. “You can just read a little faster than the rest of us when you get back to catch up! Why don’t you read a chapter now, before you go?”
Maria did, and left that night an inch taller than when she came. She couldn’t wait to see if she could finally launch a shot over her taller brother.

While Emily had been telling the girls about the book and how it had affected her, Emma had had her ear to Emily’s door and had heard every last detail. When she heard the girls preparing to leave, she snuck back into her room.
So that’s how she’s growing so fast! Well, two can play at that game… Emma thought.
That night, she waited for Emily to fall asleep, then snuck into her room, took the book back to her room, and started reading…
