Hau, the Alolan trainer and grandson of Melemele Kahuna Hala, was a fun-loving, friendly, laid back kid. He loved being from Alola and living there. The culture was fantastic, and his favorite part of the culture was the food! Hau's favorite food by far is the malasada, a soft, fluffy, sweet, fried, donut-like confection from Alola. He loved to get them whenever he could, but his grandfather Hala always made sure that his little grandson didn't eat too much.
Now, however, Hau was free to do whatever he wanted in Alola. He had met Elio, a new boy from the Kanto region who started his Pokemon journey at the same time. Elio was a great battler, and Hau admired him to a degree. Hau was always happy to help him get acclimated to the new region and learn the basics of Pokemon. He hoped that he and Elio would be good friends.
Either way, as Hau took a boat away from Melemele, the island where he spent all of his life so far, he truly felt free and able to do whatever he wanted. He was driven to finish the island challenge, but that didn't mean he couldn't have fun along the way!
