Chapter #6

Jen's changes

    by: HikerAngel Author IconMail Icon
Jen sat in a boat on the windy, churning sea. There was a green island in the distance. She drew her dark cloak around her to protect her from the cold. She saw something swimming toward her--a dark shape under the water.

The shape emerged—it was a man. He placed his hand on Jen’s chest, exactly where the blue ring had entered her. “I am Manannán,” he said. “You will be my avatar, Seeker of Treasures.”

She awoke from the strange dream to see what she looked like. She was confident that she would be different, but since her other friends hadn’t developed in quite the same way, she was curious what her changes would bring.

Looking in the mirror, her long, red hair shone as it dropped down her back in thick ringlets, the flowing, flaming mane catching her attention instantly. She wasn’t much taller, she saw, slightly disappointed at her 5’4” height. She was slender and lissome, small barely-Bs sat high on her chest. Slim arms, lithe legs, and a tiny waist gave her body an agile, elfin appeal.

She brushed tumbles of red curls from her face and stared at the reflection of her face. Her face had an ethereal beauty that was captivating. She turned it slightly from side to side, up and down. Regal cheekbones, luminous viridian eyes, long lashes, full lips, and retroussé nose combined to make her face spellbindingly attractive.

At breakfast, Christie sat down, setting her backpack on the table. Then, Christie did a double-take. “Wow, pipsqueak, good job on the makeup today! You actually look pretty. Too bad you’re not a real woman yet,” Christie said, thrusting out her chest.

Jen got up to put the dishes away, snaking a hand into the pocket of her sister’s backpack and fishing out a twenty-dollar bill with lightning speed, she stashed it in her own pocket without her sister noticing.

As she walked to school, Jen found a small picture of Christie’s handsome boyfriend Calvin folded into the bill. Yum, she thought to herself.

Abi toyed with Jen’s long curls that evening. “Your hair is sooo amazing. I wish that had been one of my gifts!” Abi told her friend.

“But you made out the best in the boob department,” Adi told her.

“True…” Abi said with a broad smile.

“So it’s decided, right? We’re all going to try reading the verse the second time this time,” Jen confirmed. Her friends both nodded. “Alright, let’s do it!”

The three sat around the coffee table in the basement on their knees and joined hands this time. They spoke the words of the verse, and this time three orbs—one green, one red, and one blue—appeared above the scroll. They all spoke the words a second time, and the orbs flew into their respective avatar and disappeared.

You have the following choices:

1. This time, things work differently

2. The older sisters find the scroll

3. Jen meets Calvin

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
