Jared’s face dropped a little. He knew things were too good to be true. Surely a beautiful girl like Rachael wasn’t available.
Rachael looked over and could tell he was disappointed but tried to move past it.
“You’d get along with him, I think!” she said, adding insult to injury, unintentionally.
Jared just smiled and ate a chip covered in guacamole. Moments later Jared received a text from Alec, asking what he was up to.
“So my roommate is at a bar down the street. Want to meet up with him and chill?” Jared said, trying to put the boyfriend thing out of his mind and move past it. After all, he was still going to be work with her on a daily basis and maybe they’d break up. He could hope.
“Sounds good! She said finishing her drink. Is it cool if my boyfriend meets us too?” she asked.
Jared had to stop himself from rolling his eyes. He nodded his head, as if there was any other response he could give.
Rachael and Jared settled up and made their way to the bar Alec was at with a few of his construction buddies. They had a few drinks and shared some laughs. Jared was having a great time and had to stop himself from flirting with Rachael too much.
Suddenly, a man comes over to them and gives Rachael a big kiss. This must be the boyfriend, Jared thought.
“Jared, this is my boyfriend, Corey,” she said, making the formal introduction. Jared looked over and smiled, offering a handshake to the man.
