“Let’s look for a public phone, if our cells don’t work maybe a land line is somewhere.” Charlie said looking around.
“Look a police station!” Grant said calling out seeing the local Newtown PD building.
All three guys rushed inside and just like before were greeted with an empty building....Not a soul to be found.
“This is so strange. Look even a box of fresh donuts is left here on the desk....a box of fresh.....sweet...donuts.” Tom began to say almost trance like as his hand went to grab one.
“Stop!” Charlie said running over and giving Tom a hard slap across the face.
“Owww! What the hell?” Tom said being slapped out of his trance like state.
“That was obviously a trap dummy...You would have ended up looking like this guy probably.” Grant said showing a photo hung up on a wall.
The photo was an an older man in a police uniform. early 60s. Balding with a grey mustache and a huge beer belly.
“Oh god...” Thank you. Tom said shaking off the feeling. His good looks were something he valued massively.
“You know...I think I remember seeing a photo of Charlotte at the bakery. Before Ricked turned into her. I didn’t think anything of it until now. I bet you that’s a clue we can use...Be careful of photos...There are probably items associated with those people who’s roles the town will try to get us to Become.” Charlie said.
“Good thinking...it’s probably not just food either. We have to be careful what we touch.” Grant added.
“God this sucks...why did we skip breakfast I’m starving....Damn I could use a drink right now.” Tom said complaining. It was no secret Tom liked to drink, he and rick made it their mission to get drunk on every trip they took.
Charlie looked around and to his surprise actually found a old school landline phone.
“Hey I’ve got a phone!” Charlie called out.
Cautious Charlie used his shirt to pick it up slowly as he heard the dial tone and immediately dialed 911. He heard a ringing on the other end as a sudden automated voice picked.
“Thank you for using the Newtown public service. It seems you are currently an unregistered member of Newtown. Please chose your role and return once you become a valuable member of our amazing town!” The auto voice hung up the line as Charlie looked back to Grant and shook his head.
“How long do you think we can keep this up?” Grant asked.
“I dunno but I’m not giving up yet.” Charlie said trying to keep the hope Alive.
Heading back out Charlie and Grant soon noticed Tom was missing...
“Where the hell did he go?” Grant yelled.
“Damn him...we have to find him.” Charlie said as they back out to the street.
“Look I see a bar.” Grant pointed out. Knowing Tom loves to drink.
“I also see a restaurant, he was really hungry too.” Charlie said.
