After you hit confirm, the world returned to normal, to its moving state. You... didn't feel any different. Well, why would you feel different? You had just swapped friends and social circle. It's not like anything could be super obvious or different at this exact moment. But how were you gonna find out what this truly meant for you?
"Michael?"
You turned around to see your mother, Katherine, poking her head outside of the front door.
"Yeah, mom?" you replied.
"I just wanted to remind you that you have your weekly bridge game with Rose, Francine, and Dorothy coming up soon. Do you need a ride or will you be driving there yourself?" Your mom asked.
"Uhh... I think I can head there myself." You said.
"Sounds good, dear. And if you could confirm that next week's game is here so I can properly prepare, that would be great." You mom said.
"Of course. I'll ask." You said back.
"Awesome. Have a good time, honey. Give the ladies all my best!" Mom said, before heading back into the house.
You stood there, mouth agape, at the confirmation that this swap worked. And you already knew so much more about your elderly neighbor. You didn't even know she had friends she hung out with every week! And now, apparently, you hung out with them every week. But how did this occur? Was there a new backstory to all this? How were you best friends with three old ladies?
You considered swapping back with Mildred now that you knew it worked, but now you were too curious to see this new reality come to fruition. You had to see what hanging out with Rose, Francine, and Dorothy was like. And besides, you could always find time to swap back with Mildred later. She was just across the street!
