Aliph could best be described as 'Logical Evil'. He doesn't kill without reason and only when he needs to. He has his goals and will follow them to the end even if they take centuries. If he makes a vow though he will keep it, even if it's to an enemy.
Having studied necromancy for years Aliph is the creator of the undead race. A mistake when he tried to raise an army to conquer a kingdom and a error in the spell simply shoved the souls back into the bodies of the recently deceased, giving them free will in the process.
Aliph has been killed and resurrected through his magic something like four or five times. And each time he's come back a little less than what he was before. Loosing most of his more positive emotions as he falls into cold logic and facts much of the time.
