As you keep being reminded by everyone, things never will be this good again.
You're eighteen, just finished with high school, and it's your last true summer vacation. Soon you and most of your friends will go off to college, or start working jobs, and you'll be too busy living your life to enjoy it. But now... now is the time to do live those moments that you can later be nostalgic about.
And, even more lucky for you, you have five great friends to live those moments with. You spend most days alternating between them, either going out and enjoying the town, or staying in and just talking and watching movies. Today won't be any different from yesterday; except you might spend it with a different friend.
Sam is... well, honestly, you don't know why she's friends with you. She's like, the perfect girl; super smart - she's going to law school soon -, popular everywhere she goes, and looks great. And yeah, you might have a crush on her. Her parents are also rich, and they live in a huge house, which currently she's alone in, since her parents are on some sort of a business trip. They have their own swimming pool, which you take frequent advantages of whenever you're over there. When you're not swimming or sunbathing, she mostly just likes to watch stuff or play some board games.
Valerie has been your friend for a few years now. You're pretty sure she's into you, but she's never said anything, and you don't want to bring it up yourself. While she's usually shy with people, she's gotten quite touchy with you - though nothing inappropriate. She lives in a small apartment with her family, so she usually comes over to your place - or you go somewhere else. She's not big on crowds, but she has a knack for finding really cool places no one else knows about - perfect empty spots on the beach, clearings in the woods, rooftops that you can just walk up to.
Pam is basically the sister you've never had. You've been friends since you were both six, and throughout the years you've only gotten closer. She can be pretty eccentric, but in the exact right way that resonates with your eccentricity. She's going abroad to study medicine in London - which you're proud about, but not really ready to let her go. With her, there's no taboos, barely any boundaries - you'll definitely miss having someone that you can truly be yourself around.
Nari is a girl who basically adopted you two years ago. At first you went to her to ask for help with your homework - you didn't really take her as someone you could talk to. But after a few study sessions it turned out that, once you get through the original silence, she's a great company.
She's also extremely physical, which you normally wouldn't mind, except that lately a lot of physical activities with her ended up with her tickling you, which... well, it's not that you mind it, it's precisely that you might enjoy it a bit too much... She hasn't indicated that she's noticed that, but if she ever does, that might lead to some pretty awkward moments.
Tala is your neighbour. Her parents are away a lot, so you go over from time to time to hang with her. This summer, you've started to get closer, to the point where now you count her among your friends. She was on the volleyball team in high school, and she's really competitive about everything. A lot of your time together is spent competing about whatever one of you made up, either just for the fun of it, or silly forfeits.
