Terry sighed as he watched the latest rude customer at the convenience store he worked at demanding a refund without a receipt. Some people were impossible, and that was why Terry hated working the register. At least it was close to closing time and he would be home within the hour. "Only thirty minutes to go," he mumbled to himself as he glanced at his watch.
"Don't sound too excited," a familiar female voice said.
Terry glanced over to see Sidney, the co-worker who had the pleasure of closing with him tonight, leaning on the edge of the counter. Sidney was a 22 year old girl who started working at the store around the same time as Terry and she was just about the only one of his co-workers he could stand. Thought not the curviest girl, Sidney was super cute in that girl next store sort of way. She had shoulder length blonde hair, pulled back into a ponytail as usual, piercing blue eyes, an infectious smile, and at 5'9" she was actually on the tall side for a girl. Terry would be lying to himself if he said he didn't have a bit of a crush on her.
"It's not like Ms. bossy is around to hear me," Terry said, referring to the store's manager, Sheila. At this hour Terry and Sidney were the only employees left in the store.
"Fair enough," Sidney said with a laugh. "So, any plans tonight?"
Terry shrugged. "Not really. I was just gonna go home and play video games or something. You?"
"Me neither," Sidney said. "I can't be bothered to go out tonight."
"I know that feeling," Terry replied. "All the same, I can't wait to get out of here."
"Me too," Sidney said. "Let's hope no other customers show up and we can close on time for once."
"Let's hope so."
As it turned out, that ended up being the case. After switching the sign from open to closed, Terry followed Sidney to the staff locker room to change into his regular clothes. For some stupid reason, store uniforms weren't allowed to leave the store, so employees had to change before and after work and keep their uniforms in their lockers.
