Ship ahoy! There's pirating to be done.

"Ship ahoy! We got one on radar!" One of the gnolls up in the comms tower called out.

"Full speed, let's reel 'em in!" The captain ordered. Gnolls scurried back and forth, some now brandishing crude tools. Simone was surprised not to see any of the beasts carrying weapons. Only the captain seemed to be equipped with a sword. Was it just for show? He reached out to her, offering to take her back up to the main deck. She gladly took his hand, letting him wrap her up in his muscular arms. With one mighty leap they were out of the hold and on the main deck. Here too there was a flurry of activity, the main guns creaking and turning. In the distance she could see their target, a cargo ship. It didn't look like much, but it was getting closer fast. The Slavering Raider had some serious engine power and relatively little weight, making it alarmingly fast for something this big.

"You be knowing the drill, men! No witnesses, no survivors!" The captain cried out to a chorus of yips, howls and cheers. Simone gulped a little. She'd expected the beasts to overpower the human crew and hold them hostage. But the captain's words, brutal as they were, held a measure of sense. She'd not heard of the gnoll pirates before and this was the only way to keep their secret.

With less than a kilometer between the ships the cannons let loose a thunderous volley. Anchors sailed through the air, carrying iron chains with them. They crashed into the cargo ship's hull and deck, lodging themselves in the shattered steel. Several small crews of gnolls began turning a large mechanical contraption to reel in the chains and pull them closer together. When the iron ribbons were pulled taut another order was given.

"Runners, introduce yourselves!" Seafang bellowed. Simone looked in awe as some of the gnolls got up on the chains and ran along them towards the cargo ship. Maybe their monstrous nature made it easier, but the woman's jaw nearly hit the floor at seeing this feat of agility. They were met with the crack of gunfire as the ship's desperate crew tried to fight off these inhuman invaders. But either they were terrible shots or the gnolls were bulletproof, because it didn't seem to faze them in the slightest. When a bullet whizzed close to her and the captain he quickly pushed her behind himself.

"What? Those beasts would dare shoot at you? If we weren't merciless sea dogs already I'd order the men to kill them all." He said, snarling a little at this affront.

Simone was quietly happy to hide behind the captain's broad figure. For one it would spare her the sight of what the gnolls were about to do to those men. The screams and roars on the other hand were still clear as day. All the while the Slavering Raider was still reeling in the other ship. This went on until they met with a loud, dull CLANG. The shock nearly sent Simone to the deck, but Seafang was quick to catch her. The remaining gnolls jumped across to assist in slaughtering what was left of the crew. But cargo ships aren't known for large crews and the runners had already dealt with most of them.

When the screams went silent Simone dared look from behind Seafang. It looked as harrowing as she thought, sprays of blood coating the cargo ship's deck. the men laid strewn about, most of them savagely mauled. Simone looked away, but the captain took hold of her and jumped across.

Simone paid as little attention to the carnage as she could, following the handsome gnoll up through the narrow corridors of the cargo ship. It put his broad physique to the test as he had to squeeze through doorways made for humans. Finally he entered the bridge. There was one man inside, sat kneeling between two gnolls. Each had a paw on the man's shoulder, holding him down and giving him a painful squeeze whenever he tried to resist. They'd kept him alive for Seafang, but what did the gnoll have planned for him?
