Chapter #3

Castaway

Now Evan was in a bit of trouble.

The lion had never been in the ocean before. He had never been able to swim around in such a large body of water. Growing up, the lion loved swimming. But the only place he could swim in back in Bastion was in one of his friend's small backyard swimming pools. But Evan now lived in a city where he was a short drive away from being able to swim to his heart's content.

And that was exactly what he did for the past few hours. The coast was particularly empty. Many of the obese furs preferred parking their gigantic rears in the sand and letting the waves splash over them. Evan wasn't complaining. This gave him plenty of space to swim laps up and down the length of the coast without interruption.

However, the lion didn't realize that as he was swimming the tide was going back out. Little by little, the lion was drifting away from the beach. It was only when the exhaustion hit him from hours of such physical activity that made him stop and take into account his surroundings. He was floating pretty far away from the coast. The large furs that littered the shore were only specks in the horizon. This greatly worried Evan. The lion was so exhausted that he didn't think he could swim all the way back to the coast or that anyone would hear him yell for help.

The lion began to panic. As he floated, he felt himself being pulled further into the ocean. If he didn't think of something and quick, he'd be lost at sea.

Then, not too far off in the distance, a spray of water shot into the air. Evan saw as a shiny, smooth dark grey head pop out of the water, take a deep breath, and dive down under the water again. A thick dark and light grey tail rose out from the water and slapped the waves on the way back down.

"Hey! Hey!" Evan yelled as he saw the head pop up again. The fur heard the lion and saw him floating in the ocean. "I need help!"

The aquatic fur stuck his head underwater again and gracefully swam his way over to Evan. A dorsal fin cut through the waves like a hot knife through butter. As the creature got closer, Evan could make out the sheer enormity of the fur through the clear waters.

The shiny head popped up out of the water again. "You need help with something?" the dolphin asked.

"Yeah, I've been swimming for a few hours and didn't realize how far I drifted out and now I'm-"

"Need a ride back to the shore?" the dolphin cut in. "No worries. It happens every once in a while. Here, grab on!" He turned his back to Evan indicating for the lion to grab onto the dorsal fin. The moment Evan latched on, the dolphin took off for the beach.

Hanging on as tight as he could, Evan occasionally bumped against the dolphin's blubbery flank. The sensation reminded of when he was a cub visiting his aunt's house. She had an enormous water bed that Evan loved bouncing on and playing with. Colliding with the dolphin felt almost the exact same way.

It only took minutes before they were close enough to the shore that the lion could feel sand under his feet again. He let go of the fin and walked up to the beach, shaking off the water from his fur.

The dolphin steppes out of the water. The sun shined off of his rubbery grey skin. A bit taller than Evan, the dolphin had a few hundred pounds over the lion. His abdomen was encases by two enormous tires of blubber that reached nearly all the way around his back and formed sizable love handles. His pecs were two thick slabs of lard with black nipples the size of silver dollars. The skin on his belly and chest was much lighter shade of gray than the darker skin that covered the rest of him. His legs and rear were heavily muscled no doubt thanks to swimming, but nevertheless were covered in a considerable amount of fat as well. Even the dolphin's tail looked laden with lard. The fur was wearing small black swim trunks that looked like a sausage case on his obese frame with a hole in the black for his tail which was being stretched to its absolute limit.

"Oh man, thank you! You're a lifesaver!" the lion said to the dolphin.

"Like I said, it's no big deal. I usually have to fish tourists like you out of the ocean once or twice a month." the dolphin replied.

"Oh, I'm not a tourist," Evan replied. "I live here!"

"Ah, you don't exactly look the part," the dolphin said under his breath.

"I don't what now?"

"Nevermind. My name is Keith, by the way!"

The two shook. "And I'm Evan!"

"Nice to meet you! You like swimming? A few other furs and I meet one a week to take a nighttime dip in the sea. Absolutely nothing beats a sweltering hot day like a swim in some icy cold water. Care to join? We're meeting up tomorrow night."

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Join Keith and his group

*Noteb*
2. Decline, but ask what to do to thank Keith

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
