Marth sent Catria on a mission to scout a group of unknown cultists that were causing problems for the kingdom. Despite her hesitation, she accepted since he asked her personally despite his engagement to Caeda. Her crush on Marth wasn't exactly hidden, and a quite a few people liked to tease her about it. Est, in general, loved to bring it up in conversations and the like to play around with her. Thoughts of how her unrequited crush was so well known out of her head aside, Catria set out on her mission. She would have preferred to have Palla and Est with her, but currently they were still returning from their mission to build up relations with Valentia and its new King.
With a focus, she set out. Her pegasus soared high in the sky as she scouted the area looking for signs of the cultists' activity. "Come on, steady girl." Catria said as she felt her pegasus start to get antsy since she was nearing the cultists camp. Landing nearby, Catria decided to go by foot from there due to how antsy her pegasus was. Hiding in some bushes, Catria watched the area. It seemed deserted. There was a lone temple in the area which seemed to be quiet. With that said, she was only told to scout a group of cultists and their location. While she found the camp, it seemed almost dead as if it was abandoned by them recently. So the question was, should she go in deeper and explore more? Or should she report back to Marth and Jagen?
As she was lost in her thought, she never noticed one of the cultists sneak up behind her till it was too late, as she was slightly singed by a fire tome. "Tch" Catria let out as she quickly faced the person who attacked her. They were garbed in a black and blue dress, wearing a blue cloak over it. The black hood they wore covered their face which blocked Catria's view of the person's identity. "By orders of Prince Marth, you are asked to lay down your arms and surrender peacefully!" She said looking at the mage. Though it seemed her cries went to deaf ears as she was attacked once more. However, due to being more aware, she was able to successfully dodge the incoming attack, although with some difficulty. She wasn't used to fighting on the ground, preferring rather to fight atop her pegasus left her in a difficult situation.
Striking back, Catria was quickly able to turn the tides as her spear finding and piercing her foe, wounding the mage in the arm. However, her victory was short lived as she overextended herself causing her to be hit once more by the magical fire that was sent her way by the mage. Though as soon as she was about to attack once more, she was stopped as the mage pulled out a new tome. This one felt different to her and it was definitely not one she had seen before. (Merric would be interested in this) she thought, wondering what kind of magic would be cast. However, nothing came. There was a bright flash of light and an odd sensation of something entering her body but after that, nothing. Her thoughts were interrupted however by the mage casting another blast of fire forcing her to dodge as the culprit ran off.
Giving up the chase due to her injuries and the odd tingling she was now feeling in her body, Catria returned to her pegasus and headed back to the castle. There was much she would need to tell Marth but she would also need to rest. She was tired, and whatever was cast felt like a Nosferatu tome sapping her of her energy. Either way, as she mounted her pegasus she headed back, not noticing the odd sensation that overcame her as she set back to the castle. Tired and worn out from her journey, she quickly reported back to Jagen who promised to bring the news to Marth right away and she quickly went to her room after. She was tired as she quickly unbuckled her chest plate and let it rest on the floor as she sat on her bed. Tired and drained, she felt an odd tightness in her chest. She ignored it, not knowing that this was just the beginning of her problems that would affect her as time passed. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
