While swapping with another student would certainly have allowed Jaune to test the life swap function of the remote, the idea of freaking out Ruby by pretending she was in trouble for something was too good to pass up. He had to try it out. With that in mind, he turned his attention away from the other students, and instead focused on the few teachers amongst the crowd. There were a few he didn't recognise, as they came from the other academies with their students, and if he didn't recognise them, then Ruby probably wouldn't either, making his prank pointless.
That unfortunately didn't leave him with many options. On the far side of the courtyard, he saw Professor Port, their teacher in Grimm Studies. Port was certainly amongst the less serious of their teachers, what with him frequently filling entire lessons with exaggerated tales of Grimm hunts he'd been on in the past. He and Ruby seemed to have been on somewhat good terms, what with Ruby's avid interest in weapons and combat. Perhaps she wouldn't exactly take a scolding from Professor Port seriously, or perhaps it would catch her off guard more than any of the other teachers would.

Port seemed to have been having a conversation with Professor, or rather "Doctor" Bartholomew Oobleck, though the two were currently parting ways. Oobleck was their teacher for History, a subject Jaune tended to struggle in. Likewise, Ruby wasn't particularly good at studying, resulting in her grades dropping a bit. As such, he might have some actual material to get her in trouble for. Swapping with Doctor Oobleck may even help him discover how he managed to move around so fast. It couldn't just be coffee, could it?

Apart from the other two teachers was Professor Glynda Goodwitch, their Combat Instructor. Goodwitch was by far their strictest instructor, and was probably the teacher Ruby would be most intimidated by if confronted with. There were only two real problems. One was that, unlike him, Ruby was actually rather skilled with her scythe, and hadn't really had any issues with Goodwitch in the past that he knew of, meaning he'd have to make something up if he wanted to pretend she was in trouble. The other issue was that Goodwitch was a woman. While he'd already swapped with Blake, it was a much smaller swap, and everyone still saw him as a man. Swapping with Goodwitch would mean everyone would see him as a woman and treat him accordingly. It was a daunting prospect, but an exciting one nevertheless.
