"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Manny, happy birthday to you" sang the voices at the birthday party.
They were the birthday boy's parents, Stan and Judy, his friend Alana and her parents Maurie and Elaine, his other friend Max and his father Gabe, and a third friend Rachel, who was accompanied by her parents Fiona and Thomas and her older brother Terrance, making a total of twelve people, including Manny himself.
"Here's a present from your own Mommy and Daddy," said Stan, handing Manny a present. It was pull-ups.
"Diapers?" said Manny.
"They're a special kind of diaper you can use when you're learning to go potty," explained Judy.
Then, Alana said, "This is from me and my Mommy and Daddy."
Manny opened it up: it was some books. "I can't read," said Manny.
Maurie giggled and said, "Your Mommy and Daddy are supposed to read them *to* you."
Next, Fiona said, "And this is from me, Rachel, Thomas, and Terrance."
It was a doll. "Thanks, Fiona," said Manny.
Finally, Gabe handed Manny the present from him and Max: a ball.
