Although you'd rather not hear your parents and gym teacher discuss your lack of physical talent, it doesn't seem like you can deter her any further than you already have.
If you had known it would turn out like this, you'd have been firmer in rejecting her offer to drive you home. Silently, you sigh knowing it's too late to regret.
"Well...okay then. I'm sure they'll be thankful."
Ms. Mikoto's eyes narrow with a sly smile as you exit the passenger seat.
'After this, I'm sure I'll be thankful too...' she thinks.

Naturally, your parents were appreciative of your gym teacher's help and they settled down with some tea in the living room. Part of you wanted to stick around, just to protest if the need arises since it regarded your well-being, but Ms. Mikoto urges you away with a warm smile.
"Daniel, I'll just be speaking with your parents and then I'll be out of your way. Do you mind giving us some time?"
Before you could open your mouth, your father stepped in.
"Son, let the grown-ups talk here. I'm sure you have your share of homework, am I right?"
With your father's raised eyebrows, you shut your mouth and curl your lips, a little peeved.
'I just turned freakin' eighteen! I'm just about a grown-up as ever!' you think.
Yet, you are unable to say anything back to your father. Sighing, you turn away and head to your room upstairs cursing your insensitive father. With you out of the way though, Ms. Mikoto begins her proposal to your parents with a professional smile, one that hides the hot intentions that fills the yearning woman's heart.
"I'm sure you're aware of your son's difficulty in exerting himself compared to his peers. In all the activities, he runs out of breath quickly and he has difficulty building strength in his arms and legs. Is this understood?" he begins.
Your parents nodded and your mother speaks up, worried. "He's always been weaker than the other kids. He was late walking up on his two feet compared to most kids as well."
Your father hums, crossing his arms distastefully. "It's a shame, but it just means he has to work harder in his life. The one thing I don't want to see is him not performing any physical activity after he graduates."
Ms. Mikoto smiles wider, feeling more confident.
"Then, I have a proposal. I actually don't live far and I have a small personal gym in my home. I'd like to help your son build strength with some afterschool time with me and I'm more than happy to guide him on the weekends as well."
Your mother and father widen his eyes. "Ms. Mikoto, we couldn't ask you to..."
The gym teacher raises her hand to halt the pushback. "No, it's not a problem at all! I take pride in all my students, but it's natural for me to go the extra mile to help wherever I can. Plus, I used to be a physical therapist before I moved into the states."
Your parents blinked, bewildered by the generous offer. Before they could get ahead of themselves, your father clears his throat.
"Um...well, are you expecting some payment or...?"
Ms. Mikoto tilts her head. "Well, I'm not doing this for money. Your son's company will be plenty though since I primarily live alone. Although, I think we can settle on a fifty dollars per week for a few hours a day with your son if that's alright."
Your father snorts, chuckling a little. "Just fifty a week? You are far too generous, Ms. Mikoto, but I won't reject that kind of deal!"
Ms. Mikoto is making decently given her limited expenses, but she didn't want to raise suspicion by performing workouts with you for free. On that note, she shook hands with your parents and left your home with growing excitement in her heart.
She stops and looks to the second story of your house where she sees you on a table, studying by the window with a bored expression. Unaware of her presence outside, you feel an ominous shiver traveling down your spine. You dismiss it as nothing but the result of the air conditioning in your house.
'Soon...my baby will be with me. He's so fragile and I'm the only one who can help him, I know it! Just wait for me, sweetie...'

Later during dinner, your parents told you of the plans with your gym teacher. How do you react? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
