She raced over to a gigantic balloon easily three times her size laying on the ground in a glass room. “Whoa, it’s so big.” She marveled as she looked at the giant balloon. “Hey, Loona, what’s this.” Alexis asked to the empty room, when from a nearby speaker came a reply. “It is a failed project which was supposed to create unpoppable self-inflating balloons.” Said the AI program, it overseers all of the facility and can be used as a digital assistant by the families of important personnel such as Alexis and her mom, who have the programmed installed in their homes.
“Self-Inflating?” Alexis questioned as she peered at the immense balloon, she noticed it hissed slightly and swelled bigger. “Hey, It grew!” Alexis cried to Loona. “Of course, the balloon has been growing overtime, it once had a circumference of eight inches fully inflated.” Alexis was stunned to learn that the balloon had once been so small seeing it now. “Wait why is it so big, I thought you said it was a failed experiment, it looks like it worked to me.” Alexis asked with a skeptical glare.
“The experiment utilizes nano-bots that when exposed to the surface of an object will work their way inside and find an appropriate place to start producing air, such as inside a tied balloon. Overtime the air fills the object and as it gets larger the nano-bots maintain the objects structure allowing it to potentially inflate endlessly.” Loona explained to Alexis who just looked at the balloon again in awe, processing all the information she was just given. “However, the rate of inflation was too slow, as the nano-bots collect oxygen and maintain the object’s structure, that and the balloon’s lack of buoyancy made it deemed a failure, not to mention the potential problems of the object’s potentially limitless inflation, the potential problems and a lack of customer interest ended the support of the project, the test balloon is being observed to see if there is a limit to the nano-bots inflation.” Loona explained further, Alexis stared intensely as she contemplated the balloon. “What happens if it pops or the balloon isn’t tied?” Alexis asked in curiosity. “Nothing, the nano-bots must enter a sealed environment to properly start the inflation, but if possible, they can repair damages and resume producing helium, the safety of their container is prioritized.” After Loona’s explanation, Alexis glared in annoyance.
“Failure, that’s stupid, looks fine to me, so what if it doesn’t float, and lack of customer interest, I’m interested I’d love a giant balloon that blows up on its own.” Alexis started looking around the area for something, and she quickly found it a very small vial of the inflation nano-bots. “Is this the stuff?” Alexis asked Loona. “Correct, however it is advised not to remove experimental products from the facility, and your mother will not be pleased to learn of your actions.” Alexis rolled her eyes as she defiantly snatched up one of the vials. “Yeah yeah, I know, that is why we won’t tell mom about any of what I doing right Loona, code flate297.” Alexis said with a smirk triggering the AI’s secrecy protocol. “Yes, Alexis.”
Always prepared for a little fun with balloons, Alexis pulled out a balloon from her shirt pocket and tied it up. She was about to open the nano-bots when she heard someone approaching. She decided to hide the items where.
