Ting, ting, ting, ting. The alarm sounded as the ship was descending way faster than supposed. Fiddling with a few controls Qasiantius (Qas for his friends) tried to slow down the landing, but to no avail.
Qas mumbled something in his mother language as a spark came from one of the control panels. He shouldn't have been this stupid to get into unknown territory. But sadly he did so. If only he wasn't so stupid making that bet with Larko. No amount of Zoolians was worth this. Qas felt his body getting warmer. The ship couldn't cool itself anymore. Stupid worthless junk. With his tentacle Qas rubbed away the sweat from his forehead. It was no use. The ship was going to become a big ball of fire soon. He needed to get out of here.
Qas' tentacle shivered as it was above the escape pod. Next to it was the button for launching the homing beacon. If he would launch it he would probably be saved in a matter of hours. Sadly that would leave him in prison for most of his life. This planet Earth had been an underdeveloped planet. The galactic council deemed Earth not visitable until the technology level of earth was high enough. That wouldn't be for a long time Qas heard from his teachers rambling about Earth in "Underdeveloped planets and their roads to failure" (a course he failed twice now).
Qas couldn't risk it. Rather he be stuck on Earth than spend his life in prison. Qas pushed the button for the escape pod and Qas felt how his seat-belt tightened as he was lowered into the ship. Squeezing him into a life pod, Qas swore as the pod booted up and flew straight away from the ship. Even from the escape pod Qas felt the explosion of his ship. He was just in time.
Qas flew faster and faster as they reached the atmosphere of the planet Earth. According to the computer of his escape pod he would arrive on an island called England. The people of that place spoke English, a rather easy language. At least for Qas. Qas quickly touched the emergency language kit button and Qas felt the English language seeping into his mind. He was glad the escape pod provided this. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible to survive in this strange new world.
Now that Qas could speak and read English he looked at his computer where the escape pod would be landing. A place called Rotherham. Weird. It was called after a river and a piece of nutrition people on Earth eat called ham. Qas couldn't figure out how these Earth people named their places.
While thinking about this Qas looked at the computer screen as he saw he almost reached his destination. The only problem was that the escape pod couldn't stop mid-air. It needed to crash somewhere. But what if those Earth people would see him and his escape pod? Then they could maybe make the link and ask him to tell the secrets of space travels and then he would be in even bigger trouble than now. The only way was to eject himself from the escape pod while programming the escape pod to land in what Earth people called oceans, as there didn't live any people on them. Qas quickly touched a few controls and then he was ready. Qas wasn't sure if this was the right thing to do, it would probably hurt. Luckily he was made of a gelatin made substance, so his body could probably take it. It even allowed him to crawl into other lifeforms sometimes.
Not thinking anymore Qas pushed the button and the pod split open pushing him out of it. Qas felt the cold wind in his face as he could see buildings beneath him standing there and out some of them came lights. Qas thought it looked nice somehow. But sadly before he could think anymore he plummeted straight down. Qas prayed to some of the gods he knew for luck. And before he knew it, Qas landed right through a hole in one of the buildings.
