If they absolutely had to choose, the silver coin just looked cooler. After all, gold was kind of too flashy, right? After Jayden handed over the five for the coin, they left and went back to Derek’s house. They played a few games of their favorite online multiplayer shooter, and at one point, while waiting to respawn, Jayden pulled out the coin and looked at it closer, noticing the inscription for the first time. “Huh, check this out. ‘Shape What You Were’? Like, think about your past, try to fix it? Weird motivational thing, right?”
Derek grunted in agreement, and they went back to their game. In the middle of a match, as their opposing team was pushing hard into their territory, the words on the coin came back to Derek, and he thought out loud, “If you have the life of any of the people at school, who’s would you want?”
