A chance of spending a weekend with my best friend at his lake house? Hell yeah I’m going to say yes. It’s summer time which means its way too hot to be spending time inside. My bag is packed with all the necessities: change of clothes, swim trunks, and sunscreen. The obnoxious sound of a diesel truck can be heard pulling into the driveway.
Grabbing my bag and phone, I head out the door eager to leave. A window in rolled down, Seth’s head comes into view, “Hurry up dude! You know my dad doesn't like waiting around,” Seth calls out while grinning. I open the side door of the truck, throw my bag onto the floor, and hop into the seat. The temperature reads 104 degrees outside. “Damn, the water better be cold up at the lake,” I say out loud. Thankfully the truck has air conditioning, making the trip much more pleasant, except for Dan’s same old grossness.
Dan shifts in his seat, “it’s too damn hot! I’m creating a puddle of sweat under my ass!” Both me and Seth grimace at the comment. Dan has always spoke his mind, no matter how dirty it is. “And I just realized I forgot my deodorant. Looks like you guys are going to experience what a true man smells like!” he chuckles at his joke.
“I can’t wait to beat you to the buoy this year,” Seth says with a cocky grin. I retaliate back, “Oh we will see about that. There is no way I’m going to let you beat me,”. Now I’m pumped to get out there, but my stomach says otherwise. It started to feel upset halfway into the trip. Maybe something I ate? Who cares. I’m not going to let it interfere with my weekend.
Finally, we arrive at the lake house. The trip wouldn’t have felt that long if Seth’s dad just stopped making vulgar comments about his smell or his sweaty ass. The house outlooked the huge lake. The wooden structure was painted grey, but has been faded with time. Inside looked more modern than the outside with a small couch and some stools. Upstairs was where all the rooms were. The rooms were all divided by several rolling doors, but the bottoms never touched the wooden floor. The floors could use a moping. Dust had collected overtime and there was crumbs near the table, obvious Dan’s doing. He can be a slob when eating.
“Hey guys!” Dan yelled from the car, “ I’m inviting some of my friends up here as well. Don’t bother us and make sure there is beer in the fridge!” Seth made sure there was beer and walked over to me.
