Shirou Emiya hummed a merry tune as he swept the floor that the chess club had used. Once again he was staying late after school cleaning up. The chess club had asked if he would be willing to clean up their room after school and he couldn't say no to them. They had been willing to pay him, but he declined, saying that they didn't need to do anything.
As he was sweeping the room something red caught his eye. He crouched down and saw a red chess piece. He picked it up and studied it in his hand. It was an ornate king piece with a hint of flair to the crown. the middle of the piece had intricate red lines crisscrossing above the base.
But that wasn't what caught his attention the most. He wasn't a great Magus by any means, but even he could feel the power that coursed through the chess piece.
Shirou he could feel his circuits come to life and pour his prana into the chess piece. The moment his prana entered the chess piece it shattered in his hand harmlessly. Shirou jumped back in surprise, dropping the broom onto the ground.
He looked over where had stood and didn't see any sign of the chess piece or even dust of where it had once been. He couldn't feel any of the power that radiated off the chess piece. As if it was never here in the first place.
He picked up the broom and got back to work cleaning the room. There was still so much that he needed to if he was going to make it back home before it got dark.
Little did Shirou know was that the power of the chess piece wasn't gone. It had merely moved into a new container himself.
