Chapter #7

Waking up Smaller

    by: AcaciaSgt Author IconMail Icon
Looks like the potion didn’t work after all, Camilla thought, disappointed.

With a sigh, she sat up and stretched, eyes closed. She thought back on the dream. Though mostly forgotten, there was one detail that still stood out: That throughout it all she had felt a strong giddy feeling, likely because she had dream about Corrin. Almost on cue, she felt elated again in the waking world, though it did have the benefit to jolt her more awake.

Which promptly made her suddenly stop and frown. She felt her clothes quite loose. Not just the nightgown but also her smallclothes underneath. In fact, she also felt how her hands were still within the sleeves. Finally opening her eyes as she brought her hands up front, she could see how indeed she had to raise them to uncover them, as the sleeves slid down to her elbows.

Did my clothes… got bigger? Camilla wondered, puzzled.

Putting her arms back down, she was greeted to a weirder sight. Her bedroom looked more spacious than she remembered. Not by a whole lot, but it was certainly noticeable the ceiling, walls, and the furniture were farther away now, as well as the bed looking slightly larger too.

“What… ah,” Camilla began, only to stop, as her voice came a few octaves higher than its usual pitch.

She brought a hand to her throat, and cleared it out. Her voice remained unchanged, however. Between the loose clothes and now this, her morning was heading to quite a strange start.

“Hopefully I’m not coming down with something,” Camilla muttered.

She moved the blanket aside and proceeded to get off the bed.

“Huh?”

Camilla found herself puzzled once more when the floor felt noticeable farther away than she remembered. She also felt how her undergarments were barely clinging on to her body, threatening to slide down and off were she to walk. The princess looked down, and took notice how her nightgown, whose skirt usually only grazed the floor, now had a small segment crumpled all around.

Am I still half asleep or something? She frowned.

As it was, she felt plenty awake, however.

Well, never mind that for now, she shook the thought away. I must get myself ready first.

Camilla walked over to where she left her armor. She had to lift the skirt of her nightgown in order to not trip over it. Her undergarments did end up sliding off, but she simply kept walking, leaving them behind on the floor. She was going to change out of them as well anyway. After noting it took her a couple more steps than usual to reach the armor, she picked it up, finding out she had to put actual effort to do so now.

Hm? Did it get heavier? She wondered.

She tried to put it on, only to find out it no longer fit her. It had somehow become too loose, as well as too large. Frowning again, she placed it back down with a sigh.

Looks like I’ll have to wear something else, then, she decided.

It was fortunate then that when moving to the Astral Plane she had decided to bring a full wardrobe change for more casual purposes. It will have to do for now, at least when there was no concern of heading out to combat. Thus, she then made her way to her wardrobe and opened it up. She took a dress at random and a new set of underwear. However, a quick glance was enough to tell her that, like the nightgown and armor, they too had become too large for her to wear properly. She frowned yet again. Something was definitely off.

The princess glanced at the nearby full-length mirror on the wall. There was a noticeable longer length of space between the top of her head and the upper frame. Combined with the now-oversized nightgown, it made her look as if she had lost almost an entire foot of height somehow. Camilla scoffed.

That can’t possibly be true, she thought.

However, doubt beset her.

It’s impossible… right?

And yet, glancing back at the slightly enlarged room and everything in it, then back at the mirror and the clothes in her hand that she knew still fitted her perfectly mere days ago, it was becoming much harder to ignore that thought.

Shaking her head, Camilla put the dress away. Regardless, it was clear nothing she currently wore was going to fit her. Fortunately, she had also brought some of her old clothes with her. Clothes she was still fond of even if they no longer fit her, mostly for their sentimental value. Not just for how good they looked, but also since she had been complimented often by her siblings when she wore them. Camilla took special measure to have prioritized to keep the ones Corrin had liked the most. Reminiscing of the times he had complimented her dresses, she felt giddy once more at the memory.

Suddenly, her face suddenly contorted into a puzzled expression. It was subtle, but she could almost swear everything around her had become just a bit bigger than it already was. However, she shrugged the feeling off.

My mind must be playing tricks on me.

Thus, focusing back on the matter of dressing herself, she took out a black and purple dress, as well as a pair of matching old underwear, stockings, and low-heeled shoes. The dress itself had a very conservative design, with a floor-length skirt with a black rose print, full-length sleeves, puffy shoulders, and a high neckline. Taking off her nightgown and donning them all, she found them to be a much better fit, though in some aspects they still felt a bit loose, especially in the width department.

Glancing back at the mirror, Camilla admired herself for a bit. It had been years since she wore this dress last, until she had outgrown it; but now she was wearing it again. Whatever had happened, it seems it did have a positive side to it after all.

I wonder what Corrin will think, seeing me wearing this old dress again, she giggled, feeling giddy once more.

Though shortly afterwards she frowned. There it was again, the appearance that everything had shifted to be ever so larger. But once more she shrugged it off, focusing back on her clothes. However, that proved fleeting as she once more she found herself frowning, this time against her reflection. The last time she had worn the dress was when she was still a child. Younger than even Elise’s current age. As well as shorter. However, one look at her own figure clearly disproved she wasn’t somehow getting younger. There was no denying it now.

“I am smaller,” Camilla whispered.

Many thoughts raced on her mind, like the fact she could be still shrinking, if the slight shifts to her surroundings were an indication. There was also another pressing thought about finding herself smaller:

How?

However, because she could start to dwell on it, a knock was heard from the door.

“Who is it?” Camilla asked, turning around to face the door.

You have the following choices:

1. It's her retainers.

*Pen*
2. It's one of her siblings.

3. It's Corrin.

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
