How about we get some older character from the show who were thought to have disappeared first Amon from the first season of LOK and Azula from the original Avatar series.

1. After being captured many years ago Azula was shrunken and frozen for her crimes against Aang and his team? She ends up being accidentally thawed out and introduced to Korra and company on Air Temple Island.

2. After disappearing the the incident where his brother Tarrlok blew up there boat Amon is carried to the shore of Air Temple Island where he quickly finds himself acquainted with the current Avatar, Korra.
