Crystal took on a 'storyteller' voice as you groaned and rolled your eyes. Clearly, she was going to milk this for as long as she could.
"Far away from here, in the wilds of a distant kingdom, there stands a hidden tower. Within this tower lies your charge, a young woman."
Crystal reached into a pouch on her belt, withdrawing a scroll. "Your objective is to guide her to see her heart's desire: a festival of floating lanterns, and protect her from harm. Do you accept?"
You mulled it over. While you weren't what most would call patient, the rules never said anything about how the other inhabitants of the kingdom were to be treated, and with no Crystal to interfere...
Grinning perhaps a bit too widely, you reached for the scroll. "I accept the job." You scrawled your name messily along the bottom line of the contract. As you did, the scroll folded inwards on itself, creating a small portal.
"Once you leave, you cannot return until the task is completed, understand?" Crystal had to shout to be heard over the sound of the portal.
"Yeah, Yeah, I heard you." Waving her off, you stepped through the portal-
And emerged into a small(For humans) circular room.
Quickly taking stock of your surroundings, and the frankly ridiculous amount of art that adorned the walls and ceiling, you saw who could only guess was your charge, what looked to be the only person present; a young woman in a maroon dress with curly black hair sat at a table, eating breakfast.
'Alright,' You thought to yourself resignedly,' Let's get this show started.'
