This choice: Potion worked, they stay in Saber's stomach • Go Back...Chapter #5Potion worked, they stay in Saber's stomach by: Leon Wolf It had been hours, Kaden had fallen asleep leaning against his older brother. Ashe was wide awake, just listening to the steady heartbeat of the massive dragon they were inside of. Truth was, he didn't mind being inside the azure dragon, it was much safer than running the streets. And if the potion didn't work, at least their lives of lying, cheating and stealing would be over. He was trying to find the silver lining in the situation.
After another hour, Ashe was confident the potion worked. It was hit and very humid within Saber's stomach, but they were unharmed. That in itself was fortunate.
"So what'd ya steal to land yourself in prison?" Saber's voice echoed from all around.
Ashe shook his head. "Bread. But stealing is stealing, even if it was to support my siblings."
Saber patted his midsection again. "Yeah? Guess it is. Well, so long as that potion your little brother made works, I can keep you both safe in there. I know its not the most pleasant place but---"
"No. No. Its fine. Thank you for hearing us out." Ashe interrupted. He rested his head against the flesh walls and started to nod off.
Saber chuckled slightly. "We thieves gotta stick together i guess. Hey, you two hungry? I know I could use a bite after busting out."
Ashe looked down at Kaden who was still sleeping. "Any food sounds good." He replied.
"That's what I like to hear." Saber said as he continued his walk.
--
Saber had made his way back to his hang out and checked over his limited rations. He grumbled a bit about how little he had left. In the slums all dragons had limited rations, it was what lead to the life of crime. Hearing it was the same for the human village, it didn't surprise him. He found some salted meat and a bread, it would suffice. Thankfully his passengers didn't eat much since they were so small.
He set aside two small portions for his passengers before sitting down. He stared for a moment then shook his head. With a few greedy bites, Saber ate what he had and sent the food down to his hungry belly. "You're both welcome to whatever makes it down there." He said as he made his way to the small bed he had. "I'm getting some sleep, I'll see ya in the morning, Ashe, Kaden."
--
Ashe tore a little bit of meat and bread from the huge pieces that surrounded him and Kaden. "Kaden, wake up." He said gently shaking his little brother awake.
Kaden looked at him, sleep still in his eyes. "Hmm?"
"Here, Saber said we could eat some of what he had." Ashe stated as he handed Kaden some food.
The two brothers were silent as they ate the small portions they took. Kaden soon fell asleep once again. Ashe yawned and gradually was lulled to sleep by the rhythmic beating of the dragon's heart. In the back of his mind, Ashe was still reeling from losing his sister but knew he had to look after his brother. If staying with Saber, rather in Saber, provided safety and care, he would do whatever it took to keep the relationship. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
