A Test of Speed

Steve scanned his test subjects and smiled. There was quite a few tests he wanted to do such as how they tasted or how they would react in certain situations. He had an idea and poured the tiny humans onto one side of the table. He then grabbed a pencil and drew a line on the other side.
“The first test will be to see how fast you all are. When I say go, you will all run to this line.” He said. There was some murmurs in the crowd. Claire simply stayed silent. She didn’t think she could get the giant’s attention so easily so surviving was her best option right now. As a cheerleader, she had quite a bit of energy so she felt confident for this test.
“I’m going to add some motivation to this as well. The people who finish last will be used for some of special tests. These may be unpleasant or even fatal.” Steve added. That sent fear throughout the crowd. Claire, although now shaking a little, still had confidence. “On your mark…get set…GO!” Steve called out.
Everybody on the desk started running as fast as they could. Claire was trying to avoid distractions but she could see some people tripping others. She tried to shake it off. She just had to survive, for Derek! Steve simply smiled as he watched them. He already had the next test in mind.
Option 1: Claire makes it to the end second. She’s safe from the deadly tests.
Option 2: A woman trips Claire, causing her to end up last.
Option 3: As they get to the end, Lisa came in. She was curious and wanted to see if she could help her father.
Option 4: As they started to finish, Debbie came in. She wanted to see how things were going.
Option 5: Claire gets tripped, causing her to become last. Steve decided to change things up and use the people who came in first for the unpleasant tests (due to all of the cheating).
