In an instant, Derek was gone. Steve made his way over to where his son had once been and looked around, double checking if any neighbors had seen. He determined that no one had, before chastising himself for being so careless. He'd have to be more careful next time.
It took Derek a few moments to adjust to his new surroundings. Everything was... bigger? Wait no, everything was the same size, he was just smaller! Derek looked around in awe. The driveway seemed to stretch on for miles, and the basketball hoop he had once been able to dunk on what farther up than anything he had ever seen before. The clouds and practically might not have existed above him, that's how small he was.
The sound of a foot hitting pavement brought Derek back to reality. His jaw hung out wide as his father approached, more mountain than man at this size. Steve didn't seem to be looking out for him as he stepped forward, instead checking for any pesky neighbors who might have seen. His Dad stopped above his, flanking with with his thick hairy calves. Derek's eyes followed his father's legs up, past his shins, his knees, his thighs, before disappearing into a pair of shorts. A lump formed in Derek's throat. What was his Dad going to do with him?
Steve smiled as he reached down and pinched Derek up. His son made some tiny squeaking noises, but he didn't really care. Had Steve been looking, he would have noticed Derek dropping his basketball hundred of feet below, but he instead took one huge step forward, flattening it like a grape. Watching his favourite ball vanish under his Dad's foot sent a chill up Derek's spine. Whatever was coming next wasn't going to be good. Where was Steve taking him?
