Midna decided to try being a Divine Beast herself. Messing with Link would be so much more fun with a personal touch, after all.
For that, she would need a domain, and Mido Swamp would do nicely. She focused her powers and watched as it grew, expanding from a small bog to a vast morass. She populated it with a variety of flora and fauna, making sure to include monsters for Link to fight, as well as vines that would entangle the hero, holding him in place until she could have her fun. She finished by casting an unearthly gloom over the area, giving Link an excuse to investigate.
As for the Divine Beast herself, Midna decided she would take the form of the legendary beast known as the "alligator". First, of course, she would need to be large enough for Link to enter her mouth. Shedding her clothes, she dropped to all fours as her arms and legs shrank into stumps and her hands and feet grew claws. Her mouth and nose elongated out into a toothy snout, and a tail grew from her butt. Finally, she replaced her smooth skin with rough, dark-green scales.
With that, the preparations were complete, and the fun could begin. Vah Miduno, the Divine Beast of Shadow, settled down in the swamp and waited for her prey to arrive.
