Suddenly, Gardevoir seemed to sense something with her psychic powers, because her eyes went wide and her mouth opened a little. She adjusted her hold on you, wrapping her fingers tightly around your tiny body. You assumed she was trying to keep you safe from whatever worrying thing she sensed. You squirmed a little, but at this point, you trusted her not to hurt you. Also, she kept your arms free instead of pinning them inside her fist, which was good.
She got up and looked at the entrance of her den. Suddenly, a Mightyena prowled in. It was growling and baring its fangs, and it looked pretty scary. You heard Gardevoir let out a little growl of her own, and she held you close against her belly. Her other hand raised up and it glowed with energy. The Mightyena hesitated for a couple seconds when it saw her preparing to fight. As it looked at Gardevoir, it also spotted you in her fist, and it seemed surprised to see a tiny human held by the Pokemon. The surprise wore off in a few more seconds though, and it went back to being aggressive.
“Garde! Garde!” your new friend said. You didn’t understand, but you assumed she was trying to convince the Mightyena to leave.
Unfortunately, it refused to go. It roared and lunged, and Gardevoir fired off her attack. A ball of pink energy flew at the Mightyena, but it dodged and kept coming. Gardevoir dodged its bite, and they began fighting back and forth. They moved all around Gardevoir’s den, dodging and attacking over and over. They sometimes bumped into her stone furniture, but neither Pokemon got hit.
The whole time, you were just along for the ride, trapped in Gardevoir’s firm grasp. You yelled in fear, but you didn’t squirm since you didn’t want Gardevoir to lose her grip on you by accident. Every so often, you saw Gardevoir glance down at you, checking to make sure you were still safe. You were happy that she was trying to protect you, but it was still scary to be caught in the middle of a Pokemon battle like this. Mightyena kept biting and clawing at Gardevoir, and your friend kept shooting energy balls and beams at it. You could end up as collateral damage pretty easily.
