Only You Can Prevent Corporate Espionage!

Some things had fallen to the wayside while Piper was in college. One of those was her friend Dakota. It's not that they came to resent each other, their schedules rarely lined up and their interests went in different directions. Ultimately, this led to Piper not having seen Dakota (besides on social media) in almost a year.

However, there are just something you can't quiet forget, like when someone tries to silently mumble to themselves when they're anxious.

Dakota was one of these people, and Piper's ears almost perked up when she heard it. She eagerly stepped inside to see Dakota rifling through a filing cabinet with a single lamp on.

"Dakota?"

"Piper?" Dakota jumped and turned towards her

"Dakota!" Piper took her in, it looked like she ahd put on some weight since she last saw her...

"Piper!" "Dakota took in her friend, surprised to see the former street rat now in business casual with an ID card around her neck.

"You work here?"

"You work here?" Both paused, then giggled as they realized how the conversation had went.

"You work here, Piper?" Dakota started

"Yea, got my degree for it and everything, today was my first day! You work here too?"

"That's great! And, uh, yea! I'm doing some last minute filing before leaving, you know how some of these chemists can get." she laughed awkwardly. Piper glanced over the desk at the files on it, a couple were open.

"Don't the labs only work on one chemical at a time? Why are there three out here?"

"Oh, you know, they were filed wrong so I'm correcting it." Dakota nervously picked up the files and put them away.

"Yea, they just want the paper work done quickly..." Piper trailed off as she noticed the drawer she was putting them in had a lock, but no key could be seen for it."

"Dakota, how did you get this open?"

"Oh, I have a key for it."

"May I see it?"

"n-No." Dakota hesitated.

"Dakota."

"Piper don't." Dakota suddenly faced her, "Don't get involved, just head back out that door, preferably closing it, and pretend you didn't see me."

"Dakota-- what? You're a spy?" Piper took a step back, completely flabbergasted.

"Yeng has done things to hurt people, and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it, Piper. You and everyone else here may try to hide it or be oblivious to it, but it's true. That incident in Angola? Yeng's doing, but their PR team made a good cover up, or at least on believable enough for the media to believe, but I guess they'll believe whatever as long as the food bars keep coming."

"Dakota. This is illegal, I have to tell someone! A-And the vigilante stuff is way out of character for you!" Piper eyed an alarm switch near the door. Dakota caught her glance. Piper dashed for it, but Dakota tackled her. Piper may have been taller, but Dakota's new weight meant Piper couldn't stop the tackle.

"I'm Sorry!" Dakota yelped as she got up, a couple papers falling from her bag as she sprinted from the room. Piper lay on the floor try to process what had happened. She had caught her friends stealing files from Yeng, and then she attacked her when she was going to report it. She lay on there for a few moments not sure what to do.

Eventually, she picked herself up, straightened her clothes, and...
