“Good morning, Harper!~” Beamed Harper's latest corporate overlord, Dr. Helen Schwartz a chubby little woman about Five foot two, who dressed very formally but still dyed her hair to an icy blue. She wasn't so bad, as far as bosses went. She was Yeng's official on staff Psychiatrist, which meant she went out of her way to look after the emotional wellbeing of all her fellow employees, including Harper her new secretary. “How's the kids?” She asked, putting her coat up on a rack next to Harper's desk, and the entrance to her own private office.
“A pain. I wish they'd all stay cute and...unable to argue, like Hunter.” She sighed.
“Don't we all.” Helen nodded in knowing agreement.
“Do you have kids, Dr. Schwartz?”
“Ach, nein.” Helen sighed. “I am too busy taking care of my patients. Ah, speaking of which.”
She placed her briefcase on Harper's desk and opened it up. She fished around and came up with a plain sealed plastic, marked only with a number 'MU-77'. Harper had learned in her time here that that was a Yeng Snack getting passed around for internal testing. “I was just down to see Dr. McCarthy. She has these new Chocolate Peanutbutter balls, and I know how much you like Chocolate and Peanut Butter and so--”
“Dr. Schwartz...Helen, look I appreciate that. I really do but uh...” Harper reached down and jiggled her side rolls for emphasis. “I'm on a diet. So...no more sampling products for me.”
“Oh, oh! Well that was just what I was about to get to. That's the best part. They're appetite suppressants! They're made to stop food cravings.”
“But...they're chocolate peanutbutter balls.”
“Exactly. To...satisfy your emotional and mental satisfaction. If we just gave you a pill, you'd feel miserable even if you weren't hungry. Instead, when you feel a temptation to overeat....” Helen held the ball up to guide Harper to reach her eye. “Look at me Harper.” Harper was momentarily entranced. Helen had the most beautiful, almost scintillating green-brown eyes. She could lose herself in them. They were like gemstones with infinite facets. Like a swirling kaleidoscope. “WHEN YOU FEEL TEMPTED TO EAT, TAKE ONE OF THESE. AND YOU CAN BE CERTAIN YOU ARE EATING LESS. DO YOU UNDERSTAND HARPER? YOU WILL BE CERTAIN YOU ARE EATING LESS.”
Helen finally blinked, and the spell was broken. “Harper, do you understand?”
“Oh, uh...Yes, Dr. Schwartz. Thank you, Dr. Schwartz.”
“Fantastisch.” Helen clapped her hands together. “I'm going to get ready for the day in my office. Hold my calls for the next half hour, say I'm not in yet.”
“Sure thing, boss.” Harper said, leaning back in the chair, and popping one of the treats in her mouth.

Once she was safe Inside her soundproof office, Helen picked up her phone and dialled the internal number for Dr. McCarthy, her best friend and associate down in Culinary Chemistry. The one who actually MADE all these wonderful addiditves and snacks.
“What is it Helen?” She asked, always direct.
“I think we have a little competition. You remember that MU-77 sample you gave me? I passed it on to my new secretary. I told her it was an appetite suppressant. Would make her eat less.” Helen tucked the phone under her chin and sat her plump rear end up on her desk while they talked.
“Helen, MU-77 was an appetite accelerant.”
“Exactly. My hypnosis versus your chemical inducements. It sounds like a good bit of fun. Of course, I'm going to program her in such a way that she eats anyway. But I want to see if I can get her to do that without noticing she's hungry and eating more.”
“...I expect pictures. And updates on her weight and eating.”
“But, of course. What are friends for? By the way, how's my last secretary holding up with you?”
“Well enough. She's not actually that useful as a tastetester. I'm pretty sure I could feed her a stack of pencils and she'd think they were delicious.”
“Hm...Sloppy.” Helen noted. “Well, hopefully I do a better job with Ms. Black.”
