Rouge spotted Tail’s workshop up ahead. She glided gracefully towards the roof and landed silently. Rouge overlooked the skylight of the workshop, examining Tails workspace and hanger below. There stood his plane, The Tornado, crates of spare parts, a large cabinet full of inventions, a shelf full of chemicals, two fuel tanks near the Tornado, and a large workbench with a large tool wall displaying multiple tools. Tails resided at his workbench working on his next invention. Tails welded together different pieces of his new inventions; too absorbed with his work to notice his surroundings.
“I almost feel bad for stealing from him.” Rouge thought.
Rouge found the opening in the skylight and entered through. She landed softly on the Workshop floor. She saw Tails for a quick glance. Tails operated on his next invention uninterrupted. Rouge moved swiftly and silently from Tails workshop.
“Now where did Fox Boy hide that Chaos Emerald?” Rouge pondered.
Rouge explored Tails home. She checked his living room, kitchen, and bathroom for anything leading to the emerald. But a thorough search through each room revealed nothing. The next room she searched was Tails’ Bedroom. Entering the room, Rouge surveyed the room to figure out where Tails hid the emerald. She laid her eyes upon a picture of him, Sonic, Knuckles, and Amy. Rouge removed the painting and found a hidden wall safe.
“There it is. He should have put a note saying ‘steal me’ on the safe while he was at it.” Rouge thought.
The wall safe had a combination lock. Rouge pressed her ear to the side of the safe as she cracked the safe. Her fine hearing picked up on the clicks of the combination lock. She unlocked the safe, revealing a precious Chaos Emerald on its own personal stand. She slipped her hand into the safe to grab the Chaos Emerald. She grabbed it; she smiled ear to ear over this successful heist, or so she thought. Once the emerald was elevated from the stand, a strange green gas emitted instantly, clouding over Rouge. This gas caught Rouge off guard, causing her to cough. She felt faint and collapsed to the ground. An alarm began blaring and blew Rouge’s cover. She struggled to stay conscious; fighting to elevate herself but ultimately failing. Rouge lied helplessly on the ground on the verge of fainting. Before passing out, she watched a pair of white and red sneakers step towards her.
Tail’s looked over his open safe, his misplaced Chaos Emerald, and the unconscious bat lying on his floor. He walked over to the open safe and tapped a hidden button placed inside the safe. Tails placed the switch, along with a booby trap incase anyone tried to steal the emerald. He put the emerald back, rearmed and sealed his safe, and examined Rouge.
“I can’t believe you tried to steal from me again.” Tails thought. “You are such a brat, Rouge. But have a proper punishment for a brat like you.”
