After her brutal beating at the hands of the Kryptonian Worldkiller Reign, Kara was bedridden inside the DEO, spending nearly an entire week under a yellow sun lamp to help her heal. Alex could stand seeing her sister in such a fragile state, on the brink of death's door. So she devised a plan to prevent Kara from challenging Reign to a rematch, using a piece of alien technology the DEO had salvaged from the Fort Rozz Prison crash site several years ago.
She didn't hesitate to use the device once it was clear that Kara would make a full recovery. Alex used the alien gadget to shrink her adopted sister down to the size of a bug, determined to keep Kara away from Reign at any cost, even if it meant resorting to force.
While the size of a fly, Kara would be weak and powerless enough that even an ordinary human could overpower her without much effort. A fact that would prove helpful since Alex didn't plan on watching over Kara by herself. She was enlisting the aid of someone who truly wanted to protect Supergirl, the way she had protected everyone in National City.
Luckily, Alex's plan went off without a hitch, and she was able to shrink Supergirl in the middle of the night, sneaking her past the other agents inside her cleavage while the blonde woman was still recovering. Of course, Kara was still in a coma after her televised battle with Reign, so she wasn't conscious of any of this.
---The Following Morning---
Kara woke on a large wooden surface, the Sun shining on her through an open window. Finally experiencing the Yellow Sun's golden rays in earnest, Kara's strength had at long last returned after seven long days, and she was able to move her body freely, with only one downside.
Kara quickly sat up and realized that something was amiss. Clearly, this was her sister Alex's apartment, but the proportions were all wrong. Everything surrounding her was dozens of times too big for her or anyone to use. None of it made sense. Had she been transported to one of those alternative versions of Earth Barry mentioned? Where everybody was a giant?
Kara hoped this was the case, at least until she turned her head to see Alex Danvers, her version of Alex, towering over her. She was on a table near the balcony in her apartment, where Alex allowed her to absorb yellow sun rays all morning.
"Oh good, you're finally awake." Alex smiled cheerfully, glad to see her sister had made a full recovery, wondering if her smaller size allowed her to heal faster from the Sun's warm light.
"Alex, what's going on? Where is Reign? And why are you so huge?" Kara asked, looking Alex up and down in awe of the giant woman's size.
"Reign is gone. We completely lost track of her. You have been recovering for a week since your fight. And I'm not big, Kara. You've shrunk." Alex announced, much to Kara's displeasure.
"What? How? Did Reign do this to me?" Kara asked, trying her best to recall the events of her failure to defeat the villainous Reign. Could she have the power to shrink people?
"No, I shrunk you. I can't allow you to fight Reign again. You'll be staying this size until we can neutralize her." Alex announced, shocking and horrifying Kara.
"What? If the DEO has shrinking tech, why use it on me? Use it on Reign, and let me fight her again!" Kara exclaimed, anxious to redeem herself, in a rematch against the vicious alien woman. And not just Reign, Kara wondered why the DEO hadn't been using this technology against all her foes.
"We can't! The machine required you to sit perfectly still for at least five minutes. Shrinking you was my only option. Nobody at the DEO can know about this. You'll be staying here until we have the situation under control." Alex clarified.
"So. What? Alex, are you going to be my babysitter? All by yourself?" Kara asked, wondering how Alex planned to multitask being her guardian and hunting down Reign.
"No, I'll have help," Alex said, pointing across the room at a gigantic Ruby Arias who had just moved in with Alex temporarily while her mom was away on business with Lena Luthor. She was drawn into the room by the sound of Alex's voice, but she never expected this.
Alex was speaking with a tiny Supergirl, and it wasn't a doll or some poor imitation. Alex was talking about shrinking technology and them being Supergirl's guardians. Even at a distance, Ruby could tell that the genuine Supergirl was standing on the table as she walked closer. Her enormous body cast a shadow over Kara, eclipsing the tiny woman.
"No way, Supergirl." She smiled, her face lighting up as she looked down at her idol. She stopped at the edge of the table opposite Alex, placing a giant girl on either side of the tiny woman, blocking any path she had for escape from this situation.
"That's right, Ruby. Supergirl will be moving in with us for a while, and we need to keep her this small for her own safety." Alex clarified, blatantly ignoring Kara on the table as she took a moment to explain the situation to the young girl.
She couldn't help but feel left out of the decision-making process as they continued to talk between themselves for a minute, taken back by the excited look on Ruby's face. For two years, Supergirl had protected the citizens of National City, and now it was Ruby's turn to protect her.
However, Kara didn't want to remain shrunken down in order to please Ruby. She was supposed to be a role model for young girls, not their pet superhero.
"Hey, hey! Down here, I'm still in the room! I don't want to be tiny! I don't want to be small! I'm an adult woman! You can't treat me like a little kid!" Kara yelled in frustration, angered by the fact that Ruby and Alex were blatantly ignoring her as they discussed her fate now that she was the size of a bug.
What happens next?
1. Kara tries to fly away, determined to return to her former size by herself if Alex and Ruby refuse to listen to her objections. However, Ruby quickly notices this and captures Kara with her hand. Ruby asks Alex what she should do, and Alex suggests that as her babysitter, Ruby should put Supergirl in a time-out. Most likely by sitting on top of her.
2. Alex turns her attention to Kara on the table, telling her that she's taken the day off to help Supergirl adjust to the new dynamic of being small, deciding she should spend her first day shrunken with both her and Ruby. Her new caretakers then subject the tiny superhero to a day of playing games, watching movies, and eating ice cream.
3. Alex excuses herself, saying that she must get back to work in order to capture/neutralize Reign, a job that Supergirl could be helping her accomplish. Instead, Kara is left alone with Ruby. Supergirl proposes a challenge, where if she comes out victorious, Ruby will join her side to convince Alex to restore her to human or rather Kryptonian size.
4. Alex surprises Kara by picking up the tiny Kryptonian by her cape, saying that she would be with her every step of the way while she tracked down Reign. She asks Ruby to leave the room, but only so she could manage to hide Kara somewhere inside her clothing. Down the back of her pants, between her boobs, or maybe even down the shaft of her boot.
