A polar bear wandered the frozen plains. It saw some glowing things that ever shifted its size shape and colours. It rushed towards the bears faster then any animal.
It shifted into a mountain sized bear made out of the northern lights. It looked down on the bear radiating compassion and sadness.
"You'll do, you are chosen"
An arc of ever shifting light struck the bear. Suddenly the bear new all the language of all animals and could understand concepts it could never even think of before, it was fully sapient now.
"Choose for what?" asked the bear.
"To be my envoy on Earth. I am the sun. I have looked upon the earth since before it even formed. Behind is powerful magnetic field I could not reach. I have seen that the earth is in danger. You have seen it: the ice is melting, the fish are going and the air is just wrong. I can however reach into the uttermost north. I can give my power to another to act in my stead. You are the first fundamentally good being I've come also so you are chosen," declared the Aurora bear.
"So I can used this new power to protect all the creatures of earth?" asked the bear.
"Yes, but your current body is too small and weak to hold all the power your need. I have to make you bigger and lot bigger," explained the Aurora bear as light struck from it yet again.
The bear felt it self surge with power. It former height of 5 feet was soon left behind. It pulsed up to 5 feet five and then 6 feet. 7 feet followed and then eight. As it grew it grew more and more fluffy. It was so soft it could step on a mouse and leave it unharmed. It's fur glowed with angelic light. It surged out to 10 feet and then 15.
The Aurora bear picked up the hugged the growing bear. Its flooded it with power and kindness. The few grains of malice that remained in the bear soul where completely smothered.
"Grandchild, I love you so much, I love all of them, I always have. But I never got to tell them, tell them for me, pass this hug on. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I should have done this so much earlier," as it talked the bear grew to 25 feet and then 50feet tall. With one extra big hug the bear surged to 100ft tall.
The bear was placed back on the snow.
"That should be enough power to start with. Go out and do good, you already know how."
The 100ft bear, now the largest animal on the planet meet off to find something to help.
